Durant, okia , June 27 —A quart of
Bunnybrook saved the life of Co'onel
Llmm Hlbe, formerly of Arkansas and
now of Frogville community in the
Red river bottos. "A onery lit ' striped
snake" bit him on the thumo, and the

bottle of Sunnybrook. Immediately
after getting the snake medicine from

his (Nichols') wife, but did not keep
the engagement, and that as a result
Mrs. Nichols waa suffering great men-
tal pain, and should be indemnified ac-
cordingly with hard cash.
Nichols seems to be a philosopher.
He knew of the liason between Stan-
ford and his wife, and had no com-
plaint. He readily agreed that they
should run away. Stanford however,
did not appear on the date set, henco
the suit for damages. Some say that
Nichols is suing Stanford for the bene-
fit of his wife, but those who know
say that he Is suing for hla own bene-
fit. They say Nichols would have be*?*1
tickled almost to death to have got-
ten rid of Mrs. Nichols, and was natur-
ally much disappointed when Stanford
did not come after her

Yukon, Okia., June 27.—The harvest-
ing of wheat and oats has been going
on steadily all this week. In many
places the grain is down and badly
twisted, yet practically all will be sav
ed. The yield promises to be fairly
Bridge Canadian River

Stigler, Okia., Jun 27.—At an ex
pendlture of nearly half a million dol
lars the Midland Valley track will be
changed where It crosses the Canadian
river at the od McMurray station to a
point two and one-half miles north,
near Briartown, and one of the very
finest steel bridges ever constructed In
the southwest buiided over it.
During the recent floods the Midland
Buffered heavily from losses on
count of the river completely changing
Its "hannel by half mile, leaving its
bridge on dry land.
The big bridge was built only last
winter at a cost of 290,000, constructed
ntirely of steel on huge concrete
piles. The engineers boasted that they
had harnessed the Canadian at last
and had build a bridge which no flood
could destroy. The Midland Valley
had previously had two bridges washed
away in succession. Now another
bridge must be built.
WOMAN TADLY HURT

the hoofs of a frightened horse when the
buggy dropped into a mud hole, Mrs.

condition. The horse had been newly

cut the rates on canned goods and
changed the grouping of coal rates frnm

new rate will fix the maximum charge
at fifteen cents up to a distance of tw i \

Wm. T. farr today for the murder o*
Express Messenger Bailey on Sunday,
morning. March 29. a barber named Pu -
dum. brotheT-ln-law of Carr. testified
that Carr came into his shop Sunday
morning, and described the murder ol
Bailey, declared it had been committed
with' a htacbet between Florence and
Newton Other testimony concerning
Carr'* visit to the shop was also intro-
duced. At 2:S0 this afternoon the trial
was adjourned until 9 *0 Monday morn-
