Some things (juthrie should have a gas hole, a
lioir!. a kindergarten, and wore street and alley
erodings.
The hurnper wheat crop and "our hall team" are
eomiug in for the larger part of the spare in the Okla-
homa papers.
Oklahoma Indian l\inie$ are now in demand in tIn-
east. A Pawnee man sold a pair of bay spotted ponies
to Ohio parties for $U00.
General Idueviteh has explained where Kuropatkin
failed but the world is still waiting for him to demon-
strate how his predecessor could have done better.
That $3,000 gas hole proposition is a gooj one. No
stop should he made this aide of Mississippi lime stone.
Me must go to the bottom. It should lie easv lo raise
the $3,000.
Th large number of visitors who will be in Guthrie
today will show some of the advantages that Guthrie
is to receive from having a franchise in the Western
Hast- Ball association.
At the Oklahoma City meeting of the Territorial
Press association all the officers and memliers of the
association were made a big committee to help receive
and entertain the national editors. The Oklahoma
craft will make the trip over the two territories ns the
host of the visitors.
A KINDERGARTEN IS
ANOTHER GUTHRIE NEED
At the school board meeting tomorrow night Super-
intendent F. K. Buck will recommend the addition of a
kindergarten department to the (Juthrie public school
system, and it is understood that, a majority of the
members of the board are in favor of the proposition.
Unless action is taken immediately the institution
of this department must he delayed another year..
Guthrie cannot afford to remain without a kinder-
garten department for another year, for to do so wouhl
be very had economy. I'nder the law passed by th^
legislature iwo years ago cities of the first class which
I maintain kindergarten departments may share in the
apportionment of territorial school fund* for their
maintenance. So far Oklahoma t'ity is the onlv city
that has taken advantage of the law, although several
others aropreparing to. They will then receive their
per capita apportionment of the school land revenues
for children between the ages of four and six. in ad-
dition to those between aix and twenty-one. as does
Guthrie and the other cities of Oklahoma at the pres-
ent time. With u kindergarten department Guthrie
would receive from the territorial school land funds
an additional su niof between $(>00 and $1,000 during
the next year.*
