As I remember those to whom a
Christmas token Is due, and to whom
It it my pleasure to give, "the past
rises before me. as It were, like a
dream." I remember the old log cabin
on the claim south of Winfleld, "whe e
we were to happy and so poor." For
the moment the grave is forced to
give back its dead and the sympa-
thetic, loving eyes of father and moth-
er again tparkle with the lustre of life,
Just as they did so many years ago, at
the first intimation of righteo^i senti-
ment or beneflcient act by any of the
children. I hear again from the lips
of father. "I will lay me down In peace
to sleep," The Lord is my rod and my
ttaff; I will fear no evil." And mother
says, again, as of yore. "I will commit
my children unto the Lord for he will
hold to the last day that which it
J committed unto Him."
Christmas thoughts revive sacred
memories which might otherwise re- j
main buried beneath the rubbish of
— . -, per around it.
