Sometime bmweeu the hours of aun>

Cliaa. Burett and Dora Wright will
meet death together on a scaffold to
be erected against the eaat wall of tfie
federal Jail in this eKl. Preparations
are now well under way for the exe-
ution. Plaas for the a aftoJd have
been accepted and will soon be turned
over to the contractor*. The ropes
ar« now enroute as are the steel trap
doors, invented and manufactured by
the Pauley Jail Co.. of St. Louis. The
sea (Told proper will be eighteen feet
high and of heavy pine. It will have
traps so that both prisoners
be dropped into eternity at the samo
instant. The traps will bo steel,

auds oil this plate. The rope is flx-
1 to the brace above, the black cap
drawn and the signal given, the ang-
man jerks a small lever and the steel
trap, or flooring, parts in the center
and falls downward where each side Is
caught by a spring. The prisoners
fall ten feet.
The scaffold will be reached by a
stairway at the north side of the struc-
ture.. in case the condemned collapse
they will be Btrappcd to hoards and
held In an upright position on the
irap. The distasteful duty of over-
seeing the execution falls upon Chief
Deputy Marshal F. S. Genung, whl will
personally supervise the executions.
The hangman has not been selected,
neither have his assistants. Mr. Ge-
nung has been familiarizing himself
with the grewsome work at St. Louis
and Washington, D. C.
Chas. Barrett says he is ready to die.
he protests that he is innocent of the
murder of Old John Hen ess ey and says
that God has forgiven him of all sins.
He still has hope of commutation
although his minister and guards have
repeatedly told him that there is little
or no hope.
The Wright woman says she has re-
ligion and is ready to die, but she in
nistg that the whipping that she in-
fllujjed upon her child did not produce
death. She too, is hopeful of a com-
mutation to life imprisonment.

LEGAL POINT DECIDED
QUESTION AS TO A MAN S RIGHT
TO VOTE.
Special Dispatch to the State Capital.
Muskogee, I. T., June 30.—In several
of the new towns of the territory,
where the first city elections are about
to be held, the point has been raised
as to whether a man may vote whose
family has not. resided in the town for
the next preceding six months. District
Attorney Mellette, who was asked for
an opinion on the subject decided that
he can. In his opinion he says:
if a man moves to your town with
the intention of making it his home he
becomes a resident from the day he
lands there, and If his family stays be-
hind one month or twelve months It
makes no difference as to his citizen
ship and residence. The question de-
pends upon his intentions. Whenever
he abandons his home in another place
and locates In your town, from that
day he becomes a citizen thereof and
would not bo regarded as a citizen of
the place from which he came. There
I* ao question as to this being the
law.
