Oklahoma City, June 19.—The first
of a consignment of 300 tons of steel
rails for the Metropolitan Electric rail-
way extension will arrive Monday.

AT ARKANSAS CITY

Arkansas City, Kas., June 19.—The
large flouring mills of the Arkansas
City Milling Co., were totally destroy-
ed by fire last night. The fire was caus-
ed by the explosion of dust in the up-
per story of the main building, and was
beyond control when the alarm was
given. A boy fifteen years old, nam-
ed Yount, Is said to have been caught,
in the flames and burned to death. The
blaze from t-he burning buildings light-
ed up all the northern sky and was
plainly seen by a number of our peoDle.
The mills were among the largest in
Kansas and at one time supplied ail
this part of the country with flour and
feed.

A committee representing the Wild West
Carnival came before the council asking
for extra lights during the nights of the
third and fourth of July, the cost to be
$195. The request waa quickly granted. I

to be turned over to the contractor.
The Guthrie Brick and Til-' company
asked for the contract of furnishing the I
brick for the new Art station. The mo- j
tlon for acceptance was put before the !

Petition by citizens to construct lat-
eral sewers In blocks i0, n and 12 In East
Guthrie passed.
An ordinance relating to water regula-
tions and rates was placed before the
council.
An ordinance governing the creating
of lateral sewer 19 was passed.
An ordinance creating lateral sewer No.
21 pass d.
The bids for the extension of main sew-
er No. 3. nws awarded to \v. P. Plumber
his belli* the lowest bid $308.61 r.nd |40
for a manhole and the bids for the con-
struction of lateral sewer No 16 was re-
ferrd to the sewer committee.
Letters asking aid for flood sufferers at
various points were referred to the com-
mittee on finance.
A communication regarding the fixing
of Logan avenue In various; places was
p ferred to the street and alley commit-
tee with power to act.
A communication was brought before
the council in which property owners on
East Harrison between Vine an I Broad
threatened to sue the < ity If the side
walks nnd street Is rained In front of their
property. The letter was placed on nr«.
Another request regarding a s. wer was
referred to the sewer committee,
Tht council then adjourned on motion
at half past eleven. This was one of
the longest and most business like ses-
sions in the history of the new council.

Mrs. W. C. Showman died yesterday

malarial fever and at last succumbed to
