From a distance the movement of the
explosion was both beautiful and awe-
inspiring in the extreme. First came a
yellow-tinted, high reaching cloud, en- J
circled by a color of greenish blue ot j
nearly tarnation hue—then came the ,
explosion.
And such a report, such a sight! I":< I
Into the air shot hundreds of pieces ol j
blazing sticks and timber, zig-zagging I
here and there, resting for a moment j
as if held by an unseen hand, and then |
sent whizzing back to earth.
Imme#lia l.v after tho explosion the \
building collapsed, falling inward, thus
possibly saving li. T. Bush A Co.'s |
wholesale e.--:iihlishment, Brock'.-, hote
and other adjoining buildings.

Hariwm. 13 miles, all felt the effec ts of I ^
the explosion. Specials from • those n,
places said that it seemed as it a severe j in
earthquake had occurred. Buiidingo s*
shook, windows rattled, and the < itl- J J"
were suddenly aroused from their
slumber. j Rl
The loss caused by the fire and ex- th
plosion will amount to about $25,000 j j..,
I It is faid that the streets after i '
hi. the explosion looked as if It hat! been
j hailing glass.
A strange feature about the fire was
the stopping of docks when the explo-
jsion took place. \i .Jeweler Neff's 1S

The thieves were there. Rumage,
