Burford is a Just Judge and an honest
man. No republican will quest I n his

The reeult of the fusocr.it attempt to

what the disfranchise!-* hoped. It will

Lot the voters now be educated. The
rights of humanity; the sacred privi-

even need to have an electl n law at all.
If It sees fit It could annul el' < U« ns and
make perpetual the tenure •' office.
The arguments on tills iai" lay bare
the helpless condition of a territory on
this subject. In states they have «insti-
tutional protections, ller- we have
none.
This exemplifies the need of statehood
and the Importance «"f electing Flynn
so we can get it. ,
It proves also forcibly the grave Im-
portance of keeping In legislative power
the republican party, the only party
hlch believes in the freest possible
elections—a ballot so plain and simple
that any citizen can vote, without fear
that it will not be counted ns cast.
This merciless ballot law; this dis-
franchisement—or attempt to—of every
man who has not a college education,
Is evidence that the only hope of the
common people of this territory Is in
the election of a republican legislature.
This decision serves one good purpose,
if no other; it shows the people how
helpless is a territory; how slim Is lib-
erty; how easy to annihilate the nat-
ural and heretofore believe J inalienable
rights of men in this territory, if y«'u
elect a legislature which has no regard
for individual rights; which looks for
any political advantage, no matter how
outrageous; which will str.ke at the
freedom of the citizen and icb him of
his dearest boon, his ballot-
Let every citizen up und al them. Let
him make an effort to put down this

of the home. Without a fre* ami fair

out It, law will become a myth and eltl-

Will the people submit tu be thus

down in the woods—the fuslonists had
planned a great free silver rally on Sat-
urday night of last week. About dusk
the township committeeman arriv-

he sat down on the school house steps
to wait the coming of the expounders of
free silver, and the surging, anxious
eager multitude. Soon a form appeared
in the gathering gloom down the road.
It proved to be a neighbor. The two
continued the wait in silence until three
small boys had joined them. The wait
was prolonged into the night, yet no
expounders, no eager multitude. With-

school house a plaintive, "Whoo, whoo. j

"This does me," remarked fhe assem-
