Mr. Neal, of the experiment station,
has called the attention « f the weather
bureau to what he thinks is a certain
and valuable indication of the ap-
proach of the dangerous phenomenon
usually known in Oklahoma as a
"twister" or "cyclone." This is the
occurrence of small, lighter colored
clouds, with the lower edge rounded
| or ball-like, with the storm clouds as
I it background, sometimes in groups
near the lower margin of the main
■ cloud, forming gigantic seal lops, as it
I were. These appear from one to two
hours before the formation of the tor-
initio. The Hubject will be reviewed
by I'rof. Abb" in the next weather
bulletin.

The fading away of the beauty of
this world is always sad. Springtime
has its tender, summer its passionate
and the mellow autumn its melancholy*
grief. We promise ourselves that when
the harvest time of life has come we
shall be satisfied then to lose that
which has been our souls' greatest joy.
But it is not so. Though we have en-
joyed the profusion of flowers and
blossoms of spring, the summer's rich,
fruitful revelry, when the gray and
yellow-tinted autumn spreads its man-
tle over the rash and Bacchanal pro-
fusion of past scenes, our hearts are as
emptyasif cheated of joy in its cradle.
Mrs. Nona C Dodson, the mother of
Oeorge Dodson, died last evening at
) o'clock at her son's residence, on
the corner of Oak and Springer. She
was IW) years old at the time of her
death. She was born in Tennessee,
but resided the greater portion of her
life in Russellville, Arkansas. Mrs.
Dodson had been in delicate health
several years and had lately decided
to come and live with her son in this
ity. She was visiting a son in Wich*
ta, and a couple of days ago
she was removed to this city,
when she was suddenly called
away beyond recall. Though her life
seems complete, for she was a gootl
mother and a Christian woman, yet
nine children mourn her loss as though
cheated of her in their youth. Three
laughters-Mrs M. A. Baughton of
Philadelphia, Mrs. Laura Thompson
ami Miss Bettie Dodson, were present
from abroad at her death. The other
hildren could not be reached.
The deceased wusiuterred this after-
noon in Sum nit View cemetery. Rev.

There is a good joke out on Frank
Derr. bookkeeper of Tiik Statk Capi-

men. Sunday they took a run*to
downs on their whee's. They visited
the back door of a place that was a sa-
loon when they were last there. They
knocked. What was their surprise
when the door opened to see a church
congregation in the midst of their
Sunday devotions. They didn't call
for theirs straight.

seen with any other shows and the
universal excellence of the perform-
