UNIVERSITY WON GAME
Stillwater, Okla. Oct. C.~ The foot-
hall game between tao state hnlverr
ity and the A A M. college was not
pulled off until 4:*10 n'clock yesterday
ifternoon. owing to th«' fact that th<*
university team did not arrive until
about I o'clock. The game l egan in a
vigorous manner and continued so
from the time the ball was first klek-
d off until I he last play was made
Both teams were in good shape and
put up a fine appearance. . The unl*
slty bunch looked a little larger
am! huskier than some of the A. A M.
rooters" had anticipated, hut both
teams voare pretty oqnally balanced
in every way. From the old scars and
ratches on the university boys th°y
must have been doing some hard prac-
ticing for the meet. Captain .lack
Alley, a member of the A. & M. facul-
ty and a big Harvard athlete, umpired
tiie game. Coach Parry, of the A. &
M.f and Coach Owen, of the university
bunch, were conspicuous In their re-
spective places. At the start the way
the visitors took the home team down
the line indicated a walk-over for the
visitors, but suddenly their luck
seemed to change and for a long
time neither team could gain a poln'.
Early in the game, Shaw, of the visa-
ing team collided with Albert Stebblns
of the home team, loosening up his
teeth and fracturing his left jawbone.
Armstrong, of the university team,
was cut up pretty badly around the
left eye. The umpire penalized the
home team pretty severely several
times, but aside from a few wrangles,
which were soon settled, the game
moved along smoothly. It was a good
game on both ^ides from start to fi.i-
ish. aud it only by real good play-
ing that the university team defeate l
the A. & M. college boys by the score
ighteen to nothing. Carson, Blao,
Oallager. and others of the home team
brought an uproarous applause from
the "rooters" throughout the game.
The visiting team made some excep-
tionally good plays during the game.
KENTUCKY MAN INSANE *|
Thonaa Jeffreys, a well dressed
man, was pulled cut of a corn crib on
the farm «*f Mort Carney, five miles
northwest of th* city yesterday after-
noon by Sheriff Mahoney. Tae man
approached the Carney home Sunday
evening wringing his hands and cry-
ing: "They're after me," and asking
to be hid.
When the sheriff appr vacned the
place where Jeffreys was in hiding
Jeffreys started to pnll a gun, but
found himself looking into the muzzle
of a Winchester, with Mahoney be-
hind It.
Jeffreys was brought t% the city anil
placed ill jail Where $:t<u was taken
from his person. He said he had mur-
dered a man in Kentucky and the of-
ficers were atter him. He gives his
address at-. Nichols Wile, Kentucky
Sheriff Mahoney wired there to ascer-
tain what the man was wanted for and
received the following reply: "Thomas

by local applications, as they cannot
reach the diseased portion of the ear.
There is only one way to cure deaf-
ness, and that is by constitutional rem-
edies. Deafness is caused by an in-
flamed condition of the mucous lin-
ing of the Eustachian Tube. When
this tube is inflamed you have a rumb-
ling sound or imperfect hearing, and
when it is entirely closed. Deafness 's
the result, and unless the Inflamma-
tion can be taken out and this tube re-
stored to Its normal condition, hearin,
will be destroyed forever; nine cases
out of ten are caused by Catarrh
which Is nothing but an inflamed con
dltion of the mucous surfaces.
