tion of the fieeey stapie and tc>
date, havin? made rnc-re than
three uines tr^e average County
production. We have no statis-
tics or, brc n c>rn but are safe
in saying: triat v. e ao'.d the record
for the State and doubtiess for
the World as for as County pro-
cuction of tbe same is conremed.
Whiie we aid not pet the first
prize at the Statt Fair ae are
doubtless near the i.ead of tne
State List of County production
in corn as we have men coming
here to hay cora from three
?tat^ and the R R. Commission-
ers tell me that we have the best
corn produced in the State tnis-
year. The average production
per acre of corn on farrn< this
year has been 45? bushels oer
acre, the average in cotton 966
pounds, and while we l.avr not
averaged that over the whole
County we certainly cou.d do so.
if th« pe<^)!e would make as gr^xl
preparation and do as good a job
at cultivation as these men did.
Why not try the work on a few
acres next year
There has been some biac.-. leg
reported in the Count> and some
calves have died lately. If your
pasture of farm has had a case
of such disease in the last two
years, you should nave ail ani-
mals under 2 years of age yacci-
noted, and protect them from the
disease The vaccination of
same will ci -t you very little for
the medicine and the County
ag'-r.t will be glad to help vou or
t teach you to do the work Mr. Fer-
guson. the District Agent is
tniukiug of arranging to get
farming here to plant about -K1
acres of ACALA cotton near
town, and arranging for them
all to market together and get
better price for the lint, as he
sa>s this lottom land will produce
iint more than It inch which will
-eli for from 2 to 4 cent= a pound
higher than the average cotton.
He wants at least 100 acres be-
fore he will be able to get the
