THE CHANDLER NEWS: THURSDAY, JULY 10. 1902.
REPUBLICAN PLATFORM.
I be following is a corrected text of the
republican platform adopted by the Enid
convention. There were a few errors In
that published in the State Capital of last
Thursday.
1. The republican party of Oklahoma in
convention, reaffirms its lleKiai ce to the
platform of 1900, and to all the' glorious
principles of the republican party.
2. We congratulate the people on the
signal proaperitfot all the people of the
country, as a result of the complete fulfill-
ment at republican pledges and the benefi-
cierit application of republican policies. All
vocations share alike in the good times and
splendid conditions of the present. The
laborer, the farmer, the merchant and the
professional man equally enjoy highest re-
ward for their toil, and peace and content-
ment cover the entire land.
3. As this is the first organized assem-
blage of the republican party of this terri-
tory since the deliberately planned and un-
provoked murder of of President McKinley
we desire to go upon record as not only
condemning the act itself, but also to express
our abhorrence of the wicked, pernicious,
treasonable doctrine responsible for such
unpardonable crimes against humanity and
free government. We hold sacred the
memory of William McKinley,whose gentle-
life and pure character are among the most
lasting and valuable bequests left the Amer-
ican people. As an humble, unpretentious,
modest citizen, as a broadminded, patriotic
statesman, as a lover of liberty, as a con-
sistent, God-fearing Christian, we honor,
love anil revere his memory.
4. We endorse the firm and statesman-
ike administration of President Roosevelt,
the sterling soldier and progressive citizen.
His stalwart Americanism and thorough re-
publicanism are impressing the country to
the good of all people. I„ his official acts
performed since assuming the arduous du-
les of his high office, President Roosevelt
has shown himself to be the worthy suc-
cessor of the illustrious patriot and martyr
whom he succeeded.
5. We commend and appreciate the high
patriotism of our army and navy, and con-
demn the democratic party for assailing
their integrity and honor. Desperate must
a par y u which, for partisan purposes,will
attempt to cast odium and dishonor on our
boys in blue who are valiently upholding
the flag ol our country. The annals ol the
civil war and the heroic records of our sol-
diers and sailors in the Spanish-American
war, place the United States first in naval
and military power, and the nation first in
international influence and prestige.
6. We believe in the expansion policy of
the government and whert ver our flag of
enlightenment and highf.r civilization is
placed, there it shall remain for the better-
ment of the people over whom it floats.
7. We are for reciprocity, the servant of
protection and believe in extending it to
Cuba, as recommended by President Roose-
velt and to every other country, when, by
the exchange of products,no American pro-
duct whi.'h needs protection is injured.
8. We believe in the free rural delivery
system, which evidences the careful care of
the republican party for the general welfare
of the people. By this system the farmer
is given equal mail facilities with the city
man, and general enlightenment is ad-
vanced.
9. We endorse the Flynn statehood bill
which has passed the house and now pend-
ing in the senate and we urge upon con-
gress the necessity of the passage of this
bill at the earliest possible date.
10. We extend to Senator M. S. Quay
our sincere thanks for his extraordinary ef-
forts tor the immediate passage by the sen-
ate of the statehood bill. Whether success-
ful at this time or not Senator Quay and
other friends of statehood in the senate and
house have the enduring gratitude of the
people of Oklahoma.
11. The record of Hon. D. T. Flynn,
our delegate to congress, stands as an ever-
lasting tribute to republican supremacy and
care for the needs of the people. His sig-
nal influence in congress and his marvelous
attainment of legislation for the territory,
place him in the everlasting memory of the
people of Oklahoma. So indefatigable and
constant have been his purpose and efforts
for our people; so crowed with success his
every undertaking and appreciative of the
inestimable benefits his achievements have
brought us, we heartily tender him our
thanks, approve and applaud his unswerv-
ing fidelity to duty and hereby declare our
full confidence in his determination and
ability to crown his work as delegate by
adding Oklahoma to the union of states.
12. We endorse the administration of
Governor 7. B. Ferguson as wise, patriotic
and honest. The administration of the
school land office and all the departments of
territorial government show that able man-
agement and careful care for the people's
welfare which always signalizes republican
government.

13. The republican party believes in the
widest and freest education. Our party is
based upon enlightenment and progress.
We have free teachers and free school
houses and we favor free text books also.
We stand for the passage of a law by the
next legislature, providing for the purchase
of text books by the territory and furnishing
them free to the school children, that the
jhildren of the poor as well as the rich
man have the broadest opportunity for an
education. To this end we ask the sup-
port of all people who believe in education,
and that the greatest diffusion of knowledge
will make the greatest state. A compre-
hensive public school system established
and fostered by our territory is the bulwark
of a grand and prosperous state. We be-
lieve that such provisions incorporated into
our statutes as the foundation of our school
system would be evidence ot high and noble
spirit, would command the admiration and
support of good people and be a lasting
monument to the future great state ot
Oklahoma,
14. The republican party is the origin-
ator of the national policy of free home-
steads. The ••epublican party of Oklahoma '
was the originator of this movement in this
territory and, through its delegate in con- j
gress, secured free homes for all the Okla-
homa opened at the time of the passage of 1
the bill. We pledge to the people of the
Kiowa, Comanche and Caddo counties our
earnest efforts in the acquirement of free
homes for them.
lb. We believe the legislature should I
take proper steps to accept the effer at con-
gress to donate Fort Supply reservation and
improvements thereon, to the territory of
Oklahoma for public purposes.
16. We favor the organization of all the
remaining Indian reservations in Oklahoma
into county and township organizations,
equipping them with just and orderly gov-
ernment and enabling their people to share
in the work of building the new state.
17. We advocate equitable laws which
will alike protect the interest of lessees of
school sections and the territory.
18. The history of the past achieve-
ments of the republican party in our nation
and its record in Oklahoma is a sure guar-
antee that republican supremacy will speed
our territory in a career of grandeur, and
build here a state proud among the states of
the Union. The republican party has put
into effect all the reforms necessary for the
permanent and increasing prosperity of the
country. The per capita circulating medi-
um has been raised to $28.54 of money
good the world over. Anti-trust legislation
have been passed and active proceedings
begun against all unlawful combines. The
republican party has carried out its pledges
to Cuba for independent government. This
j country has been exa'ted under republican
I rule to the highest national power and is
I envied and respected by all the nations of
j the world. Pointing to these accomplish-
j ments and the splendid conditions of the
I country, we invite all elements, whatever
j their former party affiliations to join the
j republican party in its forward march for
the exaltation of our beloved country and
the betterment of the conditions of all
j classes of people.
