Geo. Y. Walbright, editor of the Stroud
Messenger, was a Chandler visitor Monday.
Mrs. L. H. Wray, left Sunday for Kan-
sas City. She will visit her old home before
returning.
Company "B" will be inspected next Mon-
day by Captain Seymour Foose, of the gov-
ernor's staff.
Rev J. A. Ferguson preached an inter-
esting memorial sermon at the M. E. church
Sunday morning.
One of the new steel bridges near Soon-
erville was washed out by the floods which
followed recent rains.
E. W. Kim'ber, U. S. commissioner at
Hobart and editor of the Roosevelt Record
was here last Saturday
Mr. and Mrs. Walton Burgess and little
daughter returned last Thursday from a
visit in Texas and Louisiana.
H. B. Pierce and Miss Ella Conley were
united in marriage here last Thursday by
Rev. Giddens. Mr. Pierce lives at Nora.

Capt. Amberg and family moved this
week to their new home northwest of town
on the farm which Mr. Amberg purchased
some time ago from H. F. Johnson.
F. N. Newhouse has decided to start a
paper at Prague, and will get out the first
issue as soon as he can get his outfit moved
from Ingersoll, Okla., to the new town.
Henry Lane, one of th" Choctaw gr iders,
had his knee mashed one day las? week.
Dr. Ellis reports that it will be several
weeks before Lane will be able to work.
A basebaU game between the county offi-
cials and the printers is Achedu'ed for next
Sunday. A1 McLaughlin's fine work as
catcher will be one of the specialties cf the
game.
Francis M. Clute, great incohonee of the
I. O. R. M. of Oklahoma, met last night
with the members of Keokuk tribe and as-
sisted in the conferring of dee sees upon
several palefaces.
G. E. Penn tendered his resignation list
week as a member of the city council, fn:t

W. M. Allison and daughter went to A'va
last week to be present at the presentation
of "The Mikado" by the students of the
Normal. Miss Anna Allison took one of
the leading parts in the opera.
Mrs. M. M. Egbert and Mrs. J. W. Feu-
quay left Sunday evening for Fulton, Mo ,
to attend the commencement exercises at
William Woods college, from which institu-
tion Miss Vernal Egbert will graduate today.
Nearly a hundred persons took advantage
of the excursion rates from Chandler to
Oklahoma City last Sunday. The train was
in sections, one having started from Vinita.
The i risco took about a thousand people
| to Oklahoma City on the two trains.
The lightning artist who is painting land-
scape pictures in the %how window of the
New York stcre, is attracting a great dea1
of attention this week. It is certainly won-
derful to see such excellent pictures pro-
duced w-th a few strokes of the brush.
Mrs. J. M. Harrison and family desire to
express their sincere thanks for thtt sym-
pathy and assistance of friends in their be?
reavement. ^rhe sudden and tragic death
of Mr. Harrison was a heavy blow, bu' the
^weight ot their sorrow is lightened some-
what by the kindness of the many friends

An interesting ball game was played on
the Chandler grounds last Saturday after-
noon between the Third nine of Chandler
and a nine from the* Indian school at Sac
and Irox. The Chandler boys were victori-
ous, the §core being 10 to 9. The Indian
boys arc good players. •
