High quality goods
We devote a great deal of time to keeping 1
the quality of our goods up to the highest
possible point. We are firm believers in
the theory that good goods sold at a small
profit will make us more money in the end
than inferior goods sold at big profits. So
we are very cureful that no inferior goods
come into our store. Wouldn’t you rath-
:: er buy goods where ydu A'.YOir you will
* get the best goods—at the same prices?
You are cordially invited to come in and
compare the quality and price of our line
with others. A trial will convince you.

THE MOTORCYCLE-
PIANO CONTESTS
Contestants Now Have a
Double Barrelled
Opportunity
CANTON EDITOR
HERE SATURDAY
Much interest is being mani-
fested in the new developments
of the contest situation. The H.
H. Dohe piano contest was got-
ten well under way last week
and names of contestants are
coming in daily now.
Owing to the announcement
that the piano contest would be
run in connection with the Sahm
drug store motorcycle contest,
some confusion seems to have re*
suited. Perhaps a word of ex*
planation might not be amiss.
The two contests to all intents
and purposes are entirely sepa*
rate, the only connection between
them being ip the matter of is*
suing votes. It was decided
that it would be to the mutual
advantage of both parties and
would serve to increase the in*
terest in the contests for both
Sahra’s and Dohe’s to issue votes
in both contests, bo that now
when you make a cash purchase
or pay your account at either
bahm’s drug store or Dohe’s
furniture store you will be given
the same cumber of votes on
both the piano and motorcycle.
Of course the Leader will also
issue votes on both contests and
the fact that we issue 3,000 votes
with every dollar paid on sub-
scription (3,000 on each contest)
makes this far and away the
fastest, cheapest and easiest
method of securing votes. Get-
ting new subscribers for the
Lender or getting renewals of
Oid ones is easy and if you don’t
get them be sure someone else
will.
And the time to start is right
now. The two prizes in these
contests are costing nearly $700
in hard cash and you may be
certain there is going to be a hot
scrap before anyone wins either
one of these prizes. And who*
ever wins will need every vote
they can get. Remember the
Leader is giving 25,000 votes on
the motorcycle and 25,000 on the
piano with every 15.00 paid us
on subscription.
OS. McDowell of the Canadian
Valley Record, the Republican
paper at Canton, was here Sat*
urday looking after business
matters and shaking hands with
friends, perhaps incidentally es-
timating the extent of tne skin*
ning the G. O-F. is to receive
this fall.
Mr. McDowell says business
is humming m his section and
'that the farmers are making
so much money they don’t have
public sales over there. Of
course we told him our farmers
had already made all the money
they wanted and were renting
their farms and retiring.
Hm ry Boardman, Roy Temple*
ton, Aud Wisdom, Carlos Duncan
and McKay, of California, mem*
ders of the local tennis club, re*
turned Sunday from McAlester,
where they participated in the
state tennis meet.
The boys put. up a good fight
anu were easily among the best
talent in the meet. Templeton
and Harry Boardman won the
consolation doudles event, recei
ving as a prize a handsome rac-
quet. Duncan and Wisdom were
defeated ody after a fierce fight
by Bailey and Specie, the Okla-
homa champs. Wisdom went to
the 4th round is singles before
losing to Adoue, the lexas
champion. Duncan went to
seim*iiuals in consolation single*
and was beaten by Hammond, of
Kansas. Roy went to finals in
consolation singles and was also
beaten by Hammond. In the
doubles Boardman and Temple-
ton lost to Terry and Campbell,
the Little Rock, Ark., cracks
who stood an excellent change to
win the championship but were
called home on business.
The boys all speak highly ot
of their entertainment at the
hands of the McAlester club
and believe they should have
won more honors only for the
fact that the climate and drink
ables of Oklahoma does not agree
with McKay, the California ar*
tist.
At the annual election of assoc
iation officers C K. Boardman
of Okeene was chosen Vice Pres-
ident for the ensuing year.
This gives Mr. Boardman a
voice in naming the next meet*
ins place and C. K. tells us that
he is strong for Kingfisher.

CHICKEN THIEVES
AGAIN IN EVIDENCE
Chicken thieves are in the
land. Two wagons and an auto*
mobile made a raid on the roosts
of Albert Seelkes poultry, a iar-
mer four miles northeast of
Okeene, Tuesday night.
Mr. Seelke and a farm hand
were arousfed from their slumber
by the noise made by the raiders
but they seemed to have made
no effort to apprehend the night
visitors in their work. The
A. H. T- A.’s will make an inves*
tigation of the matter.
G. D. Boardman and Jimmie
Whittet motored t* Oklahoma
City Sunday.
Roy Templeton and C. K.
Boardman are in Kansas City
this week attending the K.C.A.C
tennis meet.
WILSON DOLLAR
CAMPAIGN FUND
Governor Wilson, the candi-
date of the democracy for pres-
ident, has given it out that he
will accept no campaign contri*
bulions from the trusts, and has
suggested that if every voter
that is able will give one dollar,
that the sum raised will make a
campaign fund sufficient for
all purposes.
The Leader will accept contri-
butions and see that they are
sent direct to Mr. Wilson and
see that the contributor receives
a receipt of payment of one
dollar direct from the campaign
headquarters. Do nor put this
matter off as the money will
soon be needed.
