A Quiet City.
Pawhuska is one of the most
orderly and quiet cities in Okla
homa. There is less lawlessness
and less carousing here than is
generally seen in cities of like
population. This is, to a certain
extent due to the vigilance of
Marshal 'Callahan and his depu-
ties. Mr. Callahan believes in
the strict enforcement of the
law, hut, performs his official du-
ties in a quiet, systematic way
that gains the friendship of
those with whom he has to deal.
Possessing a big and kind heart,
many of the duties are not to
his liking, but he shirks from
nothing he considers his duty.

M. L. Turner of Oklahoma
City dropped into Pawhuska,
Friday night, and remained here
until noon Saturday. Mr. Tur-
ner is looking up his chances for
votes in the primary and by ten
o’clock Saturday, had seen near-
ly every man in the city and
handed him a copy of the plat,
form he is making his race upon
