The common school examitia-
nations are being {conducted in
Pawhuska and Hominy today
by Miss Mayme Miller and Supt.
W.E. Gill. These examinations
are very important to the eighth
grade pupils because it is an en-
dorsement from the state and
county showing the'standing* !of
each one that holds>uch diploma.
All pupils holding these diplomas
are then ready .to enter the high
school, A, M, College at Still-
water or State Normals. All pa-
pers given in during this exami-
nation will be graded by county
board of examiners and sentvto
Guthrie for further inspection
by State Board of Education.
The diplomas issued will be pre-
sented at a commencement to be
held during Normal in July.
Summer Normal for Osage County.
Supt. Gill informs us that de-
finite arrangements have been
made to hold a summer normal
in Pawhuska beginning Monday
July 6, and close with the regu-
lar annual examination on July
30 and 31.
A well equipped faculty with
four week’s solid work in Paw-
huska is going to mean some-
thing for our home teachers and
every one should take advantage
of the opportunity.

A Public School Officer’s Asso-
ciation was organized i 11 Guthrie
last week. The State Board of
Education, county and city sup-
erintendents compose the mem-
bership of the association,and in J
the future this organization will
have to do with the legislation
on education in the new state.
They did Supt. Gill the honor of
electing him to the most impor-
tant position in their power,
which is chairman of the execu-
tive committee.

Attorney General West has
ruled that any school election
held on any date other than the
regular time of holding the an-
nual school election which is on
the last Tuesday in May, is tem-
porary and all officers elected at
such time must he re-elected at
the regular annual election. It
therefore devolves upon Supt.
Gill to call an election on May 26
for the purpose of electing a di-
rector for 3 years, a clerk for 2
years and a treasurer for 1 year.
The clerk and treasurer filling
unexpired terms, so that here-
after on each annual election day
one member of the board only
shall he elected for a term of 5)
years.
