Congressman Tawney lias been
defeated for renomination in
Minnesota for advocating the
very same principles that
McGuire, Morgan and Creager
advocate in Oklahoma. The
stand-patters declare that Taw
ney was defeated by Democratic
votes. It is very probably that
McGuire, Morgan and Creager
will be defeated by Democratic
votes.

The Republican press lias al
most forgotten its once popular
but now abandoned slogan of
‘•Look at your tax receipt and
vote.” Before they entirely for*
get this stillborn war cry lei
them answer these questions:
1 Why are taxes higher in
Logan county than in any other
county in Oklahoma? Every
county official in Logan county is
a Republican.
Why are taxes higher in Outb-
id than in any other city in Okla
ho mu? Every city official in
Guthrie is a Republican.
3 Why was the territorial fix
m 1906 the highest tax rale ever
levied in Oklahoma? Every ter
ritorial official in that year was a
Republican.
4. Way Are county taxes al=
most twice as great in Logan
county as they are in Car tar
county? ;Ev< ry county official m
Logan county is a Republican,
while every county official in
Cartar county is a Democrat.
5. Why have county taxes in
Wagnoer county been increased
three dollars on the hundred,
while county taxes in Rogers
county have been reduced about
fourteen dollars on the hundred?
Every county commissioner in
Wagoner county is Republican
and every county commissioner
in Rogers county is a Democrat.

Appropriation had been made in the
Sundry Civil Appropriation Bill for the
purpose of assisting in the enforce-
ment of the provisions of the Sherman
Anti-trust law. On June 21, 1910, Con-
gressman Hughes of New Jersey of-
fered the following amendment, to-
wit: “Provided, further, that no part
of this money shall be spent in tho
prosecution of any organization or in-
dividual for entering into any combin-
ation or agreement having in view the
increasing of wages, shortening of
hours or bettering the conditions of
labor or for any act done in further-
ance thereof not in itself unlawful.”
Mr. Morgan voted against this amend-
ment and by so doing went on record
as being in favor of prosecuting lab-
oring men and farmers for forming
organizations such as they now have.
