thrill;
But taking a scheme which he had
planned,
He'd lag with the bill; of the people
demand
He-election to congregn for two years
more
And then to the farmers would give
galore.
The voters all saw the political scheme
And sending back Dennis, they did
not deem
Would bring to the people the bill
which he said,
Would give to the thousands a free
homestead.
So up rose a man, who. in politics,
Went not to congress to exercise
tricks.
But put forth a bill, the same as did
he.
Who failed in his scheme, a congress-
man to be,
But, who, nevertheless was in Wash-
ington too,
Talking to those of his i>olitical view
Fixing a plan in order that they,
This Callahan bill, might utterly slay :
For, if they would give while Callahan
was in,
Free homes to the people, said Mr.
Flynn,
The republican party, in the territory,
Would surely be lost without this
glory.
It happened, by chance, in ninty-
eight
Flynn again entered the congressional
gate.
IIel|>ed by the congressmen ; senators
too,
Regardless of their political view,
The bill was passed, free homes were
tendered;
New life to his party, Flynn claims
was rendered.
