TRAIN CRASHEO INTO AUTO
Every Member Of Household Killed
While Busy With Family Chatter.
Ew ry year the lives of hun
dreds of splendid people are
crushed outatthc railroad cross-
ings of this and other states,
i'he news came that a man and
his fainil.\ has been killed in an
automobile accident—for, busy
with their happy family chatter,
they drove blindly into the arms
of the, Death Angle” which lurks !
at every railroad crossing in the
land. I ruly it is time that we
substituted a little horse sense1
tor our boasted individual right,
and freedom—that we provided
a penalty which will compel
people to think who refuse to
think of their own volition A
bill is now pending in the Okla-
homa legislature which is as
follows:
Section 1. It shall be the duty
of the driver of every self-pro
pelled vehicle, when approaching
a crossing at grade of any high-
way and railroad or interuban
line in the state, to bring such !
vehicle to a full stop not less than
twenty feet from such crossings
and to look and listen for appro-
aching trains before proceeding
across such railroad or interurban
line or track: Provided this act
shall not apply to crossing with-
in the limits of incorporatec
cities and towns.
• Section 2. Any person violat-
ing the provisions of this act shall
upon conviction thereof be deem-
ed guilty of a misdememeanor
and punished by a fine of not
exceeding $100 00. This senate
Bill No. 258 was introduced in
the Oklahoma Legislature by
Senator Risen, January 31. Its
passage will save hundreds of
lives in Oklahoma during the
next few years and every good
citizen should write and ask his
senator and representative to
vote for it.

DAM THE STREAM
Vou take iu a lot of money, young man ’’
says Samuel Saveit; “but you spend it all.
There is a constant stream of money pass-
ing through your hands. If you would dam
that stream you would soon get ahead.
I’ll tell you how to dam it. Simply run it
into a good bank and check it out as needed
This will retard the flow.” This bank sanc-
tion^ the foregoing advice and invites you
to deposit your whole income here and then
check it out as required. That’s one sure
way of retarding the How of the stream of
expense. It costs you nothing to try it.

HOTBED GARDENS
Early vegetable crops have
proven quite profitable in many
instances in Oklahoma, saysC. W.
Rapp of the Department of Horti-
culture, Oklahoma A. and M.
I College. This is especially true
of lettuce and radishes when
planted in hotbpdsor cold frames
For the extreme early crops a
hotbed will be Decessary, but
lettuce and radishes are rather
| hardy and can be grown jn a
I cold frame quite" early in the
I season.
In most instances a bed of
[good, rich soil is ridged behind
some sheltered place. A frame
I may be used, but is not necessary
I The seed is sown and some form
of protection is provided for cold
| severe weather.
Lettuce, radishes and other
hardy vegetables, wheu planted
in this way and properly handled
are frequently ready for use in
| from a month to six weeks be
fore those planted in the open
