Resolutions.
We, republicans of Kay county in
convention assembled, declare as our
faith and platform the following:
1. Four years ago when our renown-
ed President, William McKinlay, was
summoned by his party to the head of
the government, lie found its material
interests prostrate and languishing,
people discontented and without em-
ployment under four years of demo-
cratic misrule. Under his party com-
mand he at once summoned congress
to once more put the great republican
machine of protection into workingor-
der. He said toCongress: “Gentlemen, ...
Host oil the might v machine, put on bun. w, M. Jenkins. Oklahoma's
the oil, wind up the springs good and popular secretary, was a visitor in:
stout and let her run.” Quicker than lllst ^ ritiay and Saturday. He
a Hash news came that a thousand * had been over in the Kaw country on
men had been put to work in Wiscon- ’ business and came over here to see the

spired with new life. Sparrows left t,,r> Osage Journal,
the chimneys of factories and dinner
palls were again shining throughout! The Odd Fellows will give a ball at

Obedient to the voice of the
American people, the President, an-
nounced to the world, that Spanish
oppression and tyranny, in the name
of humanity must stop. The Ameri-
can army and navy with a valor
and dash that surprised the world
executed the ordey. With this
duty performed came responsibili-
ties and obligations that deman-
ded the highest statesmanship and
patriotism, on the pari, of every
American citizen. On the ruins of
oppression and tyranny must now lie
set up American institutions and the
Hag nt liberty. True to duty the Pres-
ident has lod the way to bless the isles
of the sea and give all the world to
know that the flag of liberty, the Mag
of Washington, the starry banner,
when once raised to bless a people
shall never lie hauled down.
Die republican party is here to ex-
pand. The commercial interests must
expand. The nation must expand un-
til liberty and “old glory” shall light
the dark places of earth and bless all
mankind.
3. The republican party,.fifty years
ago, astonished the world by espous-
ing the cause of the poor man and ad-
vacating that this nation should give
t o lai tin id workers free homes. The
democratic party opposed this propo-
sitinn then and has never yielded its
opposition until compelled by republi-
can supremacy to vote for this benign
measure. The republican party of
Oklahoma asked Congress in the name
of justice and good republican doc-
t fine to again re-establish the right of
the homesteader to the soil and the
fruits ot his lalxir. The republican
party from its earliest history lias
favored free homes for the people.
The democratic party has always op-
posed free homes for the people until
the last Oklahoma measure was en-
acted through the untiring efforts of
the Hon. Dennis T. Flynn.
This great measure, enacted by a
republican congress, is rraught with
blessings to the people of our Terri-
tory. Thus again have the promises
and pledges of the grand old party-
been fulfilled.
Proud Nation, Grand and Mighty
Party, full of achievements, we point
lo the record with a pride. We come
before the voters of Kay county in
confidence that our principles and
policy must triumph.
