The news is out from Oklahoma

isn't a pretty good lie we never saw

Lincoln county started out in Octo-
ber to doing business for cash. After
a number of warrants had been paid
Hoffman, Charles & Conklin, who
held most of the warrants, brought an
injunction suit to stop it, claiming the
money in the treasury, having been
collected from the regular tax levy
must be applied in payment of out-
standing warrants in order of regis-
tration. Judge Dale dissoved the in-
junction and the county is now 011 a
cash basis. The judge's idea is to
bond all the outstanding legal debt,
change the law to allow a ten mill
general levy and a five mill Bhinking
fund and in this way get all the coun-
ties on a cash basis. Thi* would seem
to be a sensible solution. Such a
course would give the average county
about ten thousand dollars a year in
discounts which are added to the bills
in purchase of goods for the county in
depreciated scrip.
