of two hours 1 ni h here yesterday.
One at Graham Park in the aftornuun
and one 011 the street 1 m era night.
He i. a great theorist a.1.1 • right j;ood
talker, lie in eminently qualified to
tell just how nil groat trust* are
formed and how they ou^it to he
busted, hut he don't know the a. b.
o. of free homes. Ho neenis to be
able to tell how the thousands of wage
earners in great manufacturing dis-
tricts are beint: ground down by the
plutocratic operators of factories;
but if he had a contest on his Okia
boma claim ho wouldn't know what
in the devil to ilo with it. Ho argues
well na to how tho national banker is j
grinding tho poor borrower In ord** I
10 pile up dividends for millionaire
money loanern, but he offers 110 relief
to the poor devil who is paying fifteen j
i-cntH per hundred words for c\i-
denee taken before the land ofllee at
Horry. |
lie talks well about Vanderbilt s
million dollar palace 011. the bills of j
North Carolina, but he fails to suggest j
a law to protect the poor fellow with
a Perry lot from the exhorbltaut as-
sessment made by our townaite board.
He tells ol the fearful railroad com-
binations and the wonderful fletitiouB
railroad debt upon whioh we pay in-
terest, hut ho doosn't suggest a plan
by which the farmers of Oklahoma
may get seed wheat. He knows all
about the great oil trusts of Pennsyl-
vania, but he can't tell you how to
plant Kaffar corn. Ho can toll how
the government of the United States
sent troops to Chicago to protect the
poor laboring man from the clutch of ■
monopoly, but he offers no method
by which an appropriation could be
gotten through congress to develop j
the resources of Oklahoma or for the ■
relief of our poor.
The facts are, he knows nothing of
Oklahoma, her people and their needs. |
Ho is a wild theorist with a glib
tongue. He can soar over the moun-
tains of Pennsylvania, slap at the
plutocracy of New York and dilato
upon the suffering of the poor factory
hands of New England, hut when he
aelus Oklahoma lie simply fall.i
dowv and cries "where nm 1 at."
As a representative of the Knight
of Labor of America at Washington
for five years he accomplished 110 re-
forms he sought and now ho aspires
l(j represent Oklahoma, a country of
many and urgent needs in tne con-
gress of the United States. He is
educated in fanaticisms, but our peo-
ple would rather he return to New
York state, where I10 belongs, and
represent a people, if he must, whose
needs he comprehends.
The people of Oklahoma want to be
represented by tho practical western
Dennis, whoso heart and soul is filled
with the needs of our people and who
has proven that he lias the ability and
energy to got results, (.live us com-
mon old Dennis Flynn who has 110
wild lliglits of oratory, hut who has
accomplished more in tho congress of
the United States in two years than
ltalph Beaumont could in a thousand

l nclk Sam Is often pictured.
In the cartoons made of him,
As a man of lean proportions
Hut of even length of limb.
Tills Is wrong, the trust and syndicates
Have buueoed him, you see,
Till one of his legs Is longer
Than It really ought to be.
Profersob Wilson's West Virginia
college must be deeply mortified over
the errors of punctuation in the tarilt
bill.
Farmers should not indulge false
hopes. Not even so good a thing as
the adjournment of congress will
bring wheat up to SI.35 under a demo-
cratic administration.
The democratic and pop candidates |
feel that they are being led like lambs
to the slaughter, notwithstanding
their slilf upder lip ; and their expres-
sions of confidence.
Chairman Wilson says only the
first step of tariff reform has been
taken. The second step will be in-
definitely postponed, for reasons that
will appear plainer in November.
A friend of E. E. Mowendobler,
who lives at Elliott, Ark., writes that
the Gorman "freo tariff" bill was too
much tor him and that hereafter he
will vote for the republican ticket and
America. He is one of a million.
The speech of Ralph Beanmont
would indicate that he had a vision in
which the great oil fields of Pennsyl-
vania and tho manufacturing indus-
tries of Massachusetts were spread
! out before him in dream like magnific-
anee, but the needs of Oklahoma had
been tumbled into a deep, deep bot-
tomless oblivion. Such a western
stateman is Ralph Beamont.
