world, a fortune estimated
neighborhood of *300,000,000.
Financially and socially it is a fitting
match, the only sort, by the way, (that
young Mr. Kockefeller could be ex
pected to make.
Ihe love affair of John 1), Rockefel-
ler, Jr., began when he was a student
at Brown University.
Abby G. Aldrich, the Senator's se-
ond daughter, was the heroine of it
then, as she is now.

ical and Surgical Institute had become
favorably impressed with our little
town and had decided to locate an
office here. The dodgers further an
nounced the stalT or physicians con
sisted of the very best ones in the
West and that they made a specialty
of chronic diseases. Several of us are
chronics over here, so we called on
these(?) eminent physicians and went
down into our pocket for a liberal fee
in advance. They went about exam-
ining us just a* if they knew their
business. Home of us had trouble with
our eyes, some with our noses, others
were afflicted with the whole category
of chrenio diseases after the*e(?) phys-
icians finished theirexaniination. They
punched a few metallic instruments
around in different portions of our
physiognomy and then gave us a half
pint bottle of "cure-all," which cost us
$J (Hi extra. We put the bottie in our
inside pocket and walked down „uirs
ready to proclaim to the world that
"that 'ere doc is all-right." We looked
across the street and saw Prs May
Kinnes, Elms, Murphy, Reese. Ilarnes
and a few other disreputable* standing
over there laughing at us. It didn't
hurt u at all because ' our Doc" was
better than them, because he saii> he
came from Kansas Oitv.
Well we went back this morning
to get another bottle of dope mid to
remind him, incidently of course, that
we would credit him on account for it
«"d found the office locked. We peep-
ed in because we wanted to convince
ourselves that we were not mistaken
in the awful misgivings which came
over us. Then .ve went to his hotel
"•here he had been stopping and round
n" "f his earthly poso -sumi-
which consisted of one last year's
swallow tail coat and a smoking jacket
-had gone along with him.
Then w« grew more and more sus-
picious We investigated the matter
because „e eithl!r (mr m()m,y
hack or wanted satisfaction. We found
hi' had left—town—office rent—hotel
bills—his assistant—a tailor made suit
awaiting his coming—u few bur bills
•I I-' indictments hanging over him in
one town in Kansas—all unpaid.
N e wouldn't have cared so much if
it wasn t for the fact that every time
we met one of our local physicians he
seemed to smile in a knowing sort of
way that made US so d savage we
wanted to light
We went to the postoffice and there
received a statement from the firm of
money loaders telling us that our
chattel mortgage given in their favor
"" month ago so as to raise money for
' 'at darned monkey to doctor us with,
U " due, then we thought-perhai.s Dr.
<>f these other fellows
might not have demanded a fee in ad-
vance and—then we staggered under
" •' load. We sat down and wept.
I"'" ws indulged in a little profanity
a|nl getting up, kicked ourself clear
out to the farm and there we will stay
"Mil we think we have been forgiven.

The A. and M. college team goes to
i'erry tomorrow to meet the N. T. N's
at that place. The boys have been
doing some hard and fast work. Its
an even bet they will score against
Alva, and the odds must not be loo
long that they will not win the game.
After the return of the team should
they be successful we will publish a
personale of the team, just to show
them we are a^ood fellow. There is
only one change in the line-up since
their game with Kingfisher and that is
Shively going to left end. He is fast,
a sure tackier and strong on defense.
Uuite an aggregation of rooters will
accompany the team. They leave here
tomorrow morning at 6 o'clock going
overland. Below is the liue-tip:
