Tho unanimous renomination
to Congress lor unotlier terra of
Hon. Will mm L. Wilson by the
Democrats of the Second district
ot West Virginia will he bailed
with gladness by tho patriotic
people of every part ot the coun-
try. The distinction has justly
been earned by a long-continued
and faithful service, and in be-
stowing such a marked compli
nicut on the chairman ot the
ways and means committee of
the present House, the people of
the district have honored them-
selves and conferred a favor on
tho country.—K. C. Times.
And now comos tho Hon. I En-
deavor Berry, and oajn Ihut the
editor ot tho Statu Democrat is
.. gross prevaricator because the
aforesaid editor accused him of
being a contestor. We wish to
remind the lion. Tom t a con-
test on tho cast 80 acres ot the
Commissioner for District No. 1,
J. W. ROB BISON.
Commissioner lor District No. 3.
J. 0. DOBBS.
Under the bill just passed, tho
following important additions are
made to tho tree list: Binding
twine, sulphate ot copper, copper
ore and b.irs, copperas, cotton
ties, fresli fish, hatter's fur and
plusli, flax, tow, hemp, coal oil.
ivorv unmanufactured, Epsom
and mineral suits, petroleum,
crude and refined, nickel ores,
paintings. drawings sketches;
nursery stock, farming imple-
ments, cotton gins, salt, burr
stoms, timber and lumber and
wool. Every one of the articles
that was framed, is taxed under
the MoKinley .law. The decrease
of tho tariff duties which will
thus he brought about would be
§02,107,000, on a basis ot tho
importations of 1893. This
amount, largo as it is, represents
only a sir all part ot the saving
to tho masses of the people.
