The undersigned who was ap-

a memoir and resolutions on the
death of J. M. Chastine, beg leave
to report as follows.
J. M. Chastine was born Nov. 30th
1H4N. Departed this life Aug. (5th
1804.
lit1 was converted and joined the
31. E. Church south in his 15th year.
He lived an exemplary christian
life, until he was called to his home
in heaven.
Bro Chastine was one of the num-
ber composing the first organiza-
tion in Norman of the M. E. Church
south, and was first in all its inter-
ests. Through his efforts and un-
tiring zeal the first house of wor-
ship in Ok. Ter. was opened for re
ligious services in Norman, t
That house was the proaieHy or
our church, which we occupy to
day.
He was chosen a member of the
first board of trustees for the
church, and was continued on the
board as long as he lived. He was
also one of the first board of stew-
ards chosen for the church at Nor-
man. Therefore be it
1 Resolved. That this church
in the death of Hro. Chastine has
lost one of its best members, and
strongest supporters,
2 Resolved. That the official
boards of the church feel deep re-
gret in the loss of his wise council
in their bodies.
.'1 Resolved. That the church
and official boards tender the be-
reaved family their heartfelt sym-
pathies in their great loss and deep
sorrow.
4 Resolved. That a copy of this
memoir and resolutions be spread
upon the minutes of the quarterly
conference and that a copy be fur
nished each of the city papers for
publication.
Done by order and in behalf of
the quarterly conference of Nor-
man charge.
