NEW JITNEY BUS TO
SHOW UP NEXT WEEK
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Conkling re-
turned Monday from Sherman, Tex-
as. where they spent a week with rel-
atives.
A new jitney bus with a seating ca-
pacity of thirty and strap-Uanging ca-
pacity of nearly twice that much will
be out next week for joy-riders of
the circuit, affirmed J. A. Mclntire,
this morning.
Seats on each side are crosswise as
in a regular street car, and they are
wide enough for two people to sit
without too much crowding, "A reg-
ular street car without the trolley
over his little doorway, that other
vise'* would have been unnoticed
v hich read "Main Entrance."
Another incident occurred in a
small Texas town a few vears ago
Two rival dry goods merchants had
agreed not to hold any more sales
for a cert^'n length of time in order
t i give bargain chasers a rest. One
of them broke the pledge and plaster-
ed his store frone with large signs
proclaiming th.e wonderful prices to
be found within.
Come In Here.
His competitor across the street
was not to be outdone, so. he got a
painter and soon had a sign up with
letters ten feet deep warning the pass-
es by "Don't Go Elsewhere to Get
Skinned—Come in Here."' 1
You do not have to go that far to
find amusing placards. Just use your
eyes here in Norman 1
There is one on the street which
reads "Short Lunches." Another
place advertises its "Short Orders."
Those signs have become so common
that we know their intended mean-
ing and never hink of the other pos-
sible one until the 11 iV ha.-s to be paid.

Save Money on ^ our
Long Distance (/alls
EVERY DAY, thousands of long-distance calls are made
by patrons who wish to talk to ANYONE at a d's"
tance telephone. Many times these are calls for bus-
iness houses; many times they are tor residences.
THESE are "station-to-station" calls.
"STATION-TO-STATION" calls are completed
more quickly and at less expense than where it is neces-
sar\ for the Telephone Company to locate a particular
person, and ther< fore the rate to the patron is lower.
MANY subscribers are taking advantage of this
speedy and less expensive service and many others by
studying their requirements, can save money by using it.
YOU, undoubtedly, have occasion when all you really
need is to talk to ANYONE who may be at a certain place
of business or at a certain residence.
STUDY vuir requirements, and whenever possible use
"station-to-station" service. The rate for this service is
about 0 per cent lower than the "person-toperson service.
To place a "station-to-station" call, reach the long-
distance operator in the usual way and sav—" wish^to talk
