Wedding bells have again been
ringing at Newcastle. Elmus l'rice
of this lvcighboorhaod and May
Robertson of Etowah were married
last week. We extend hearty con-
gratulations and best wishes for a
long and happy life.
E. W. Standley was a dinner
guest of Elbert Echols on Monday.
. Mrs. C. B. Dye was an afternoon
guest of Mrs. John Echols on last
Thursday*
Misses Viola and Bertha Fisk
and Miss Lela Claxton, together
with Carl Claxton and Lewis Mj?-
ers were guests of Zellamae Dick-
erson on Sunday.
Miss Lillie Dye of Oklahoma
City spent. Saturday night with
home folks, returning to the City
on Sunday accompanied by her
mother, Mrs. CI B. Dye, who went
to consult a surgeon, but was dis-
appointed in seeing him and will
have to go again. She is expecting
to have an operation for cataract
of the eye soon.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Hall and daugh-
ter Willie visited Cleveland coun-
ty friends on Sunday.
Louie Meyers was seen in the
neighborhood of Fairview Farm
on Sunday evening, evidently out
hunting a girl, but all the fair
damsels seemed to be escorted.
Hard luck, Louie; why not hunt
pastures new?

Mr. Morris of Newcastle is
just beginning to market his c.'n-
iting peaches. They certainly art
nice ones and we are sure he will
have 110 trouble finding a ready
market for them.
Mrs. ( harlie I'isk and babe have
returned home after a several days'
visit with relatives and friends near
Franklin.
Messrs. E. W. Standley and El-
bert Echols were Norman visitors
on Monday getting their coal and
preparing for the threshers.
The bridge near Mr. Echols'
which has been in very bad condi-
tion for several weeks has been
repaired. Messrs. Stanley, Echols,
Wagner and C. B. and J. W. Dye
did the work and made a good job
of it. The bridge is now strong
and safe and one can cross it
without fear of measuring his
length to the bottom.
Carl Echols of 1 uttle came in
Monday for a few days' visit with
his parents, Mr and Mrs. John
Echols.

otherwise improving street im-
provement District No. 30, to-wit,
from the west line of South Santa
Fe Avenue to the East line of
Webster Avenue in the City of
Norman, Oklahoma.
1066.66 sq. yds. paving 24 feet
wide from curb to curb 6" one
course reinforced concrete pave-
ment, cost $2.54 per square yard,
$2709.32
200 lineal ft. of curb cost 60c
per foot 120.00
240 cubic yards excavating cost
50c per cubic yard $130.00
Engineering ami inspection cost
5 per cent • $147.47
Total $3096.79

RESOLUTION.
A resolution providing for the
paving, . grading, curbing, and
draining and otherwise improving
of West Apache street from the
west line of Santa Fe Avenue to
the east line of Webster Avenue.
Whereas, on the 27th day of
May, 1919, a resolution was adop-
ted by the City Councilmen of
the City of Norman, Okla., and
approved by the Mayor, declaring
and deeming it necessary to im-
prove West Apache street from the
west line of Santa Fe Avenue to
the east line of Webster Avenue,
by curbing, grading, paving, and
draining, and constructing the
necessary man-holes and ca'tch-
basins, and
Whereas, said resoluti6n "is
based upon the plans, estimates
and specifications of the City En-
gineer, and
Whereas, fifteen days have
elapsed since the last publication
of said resolution, and
Whereas, no sufficient protest
has been filed against said pro-
posed improvement, now there-
fore,
Be it resolved by the Mayor and
Councilmen of the City of Nor-
man, Oklahoma:
1st: That we proceed with said
improvements by grading, curb-
ing. paving, and draining, and in-
stalling the necessary man-holes
and catch basins, on West Apache
street from the west line of Santa
Fe Avenue to the east line of
Webster Avenue, said paving to
be thirty feet wide from back of
curb to back of curb, and to con-
sist of one course reinforced con-
crete pavement, and to be con-
structed according to the plans
and specifications of the City En-
gineer.
2nd: That all said paving, grad-
ing, curbing, and draining shall
be done tinder a separate contract
with the City, which contract shall

ment shall be born by the proper-
ty owners and shall be assessed

3rd: That the City Engineer be

| 4th: That the City Attorney be

] cribed plans, plats, profiles, speci-
fications and estimates, a contract
which shall contain all the pro-
j visions relative to the doing of
! the above work, bonds, etc., and
1 in all things a correct and com-
plete contract relative to the do-
I ing and cempletion of the work
in this resolution described.
I 5th: That the City Clerk be and
he is hereby authorized and dir-
1 ccted, upon the approval by the
j Mayor and Councilmen of such
I contract, and of the plans', plats,
profiles, estimates and specifica-
tions of the City Engineer, not
J heretofore filed, to prepare a no-
i tice and cause the same to be pub-
| lished in two consecutive issues
| of the Cleveland County Enter-
I prise, a weekly newspaper pub-
lished and of general circulation
' in the City of Norman, catling for
(sealed proposals /or furnishing
j material and performing the work
( necessary in making the improve-
ment in this resolution ordered.
| and shall state that the work of
\ making said improvements shall
be done according to the approval
plans, plats, profiles, specifica-
tions, and estimates and contract
and such contractor shall enter in-
to the form of contract to be so
prepared by the City Attorney
and approved by the Mayor and
Councilmen and attached to the
j specifications^ and that such bid
will accepted and considered by
I the Mayor and Councilmen upon
I a basis of such understanding by
the contractor.
That the contract if let will be
j let to the lowest and best bidder;
| that the contract price of making
[ the said improvement shall in no
event exceed the estimate cost
j submitted by the City Engineer
with the plans and specifications.
] T hat each bid on the improve-
ments herein ordered under single
j contract shall be accompanied by
! a certified check on some bank in
I the City of Norman, Okla., for
five per cent of his hid, such check
i being a pledge that the bidder
will, if his bid is accepted, execute
i and deliver satisfactory bonds
I with good and sufficient surety,
| and will execute and deliver con-
! tract in accordance with his bid
Saitl notice shall also state that
such contractor shall receive his
j contract price as the statutes of
Oklahoma provides and further
one bond resolution, and one res-
olution only, will be passed auth-
orizing the i.^fcance of one series
of bonds evidencing the assess-
ment as may be made against the
property as provided by law, and
shall further state that the con-
tractor may be paid in both cash
and bonds, or in bonds solely, at
the option of the city which bon Is
shall he given by the city and re-
ceived by the contractor at fheir
par value.
Said notice shall also state the
time when and place where the
bids will be opend and considered
by the Mayor and Councilmen and
shall state that the Mayor and
Councilmen reserve the right to
reject any and all bids. •
Said notice shall further state
that the contractor shall furnish
a maintenance bond as shall be
provided for in the contract, equal
in amount to ten per cent of the
contract price of said improve-
ment and each part thereof, for a
period of not less than five years
from the date as - provided.
The person to whom said con-
tract is let shall in all things be
governed and bound by the pro-
visions of this resolution and the
said plans, plats.profites, specifi-
cations and contract, and further
that such bids shall be withing
the estimates furnished by the
City Engineer; and further thai
the contractor shall execute and
deliver to the City of Norman,
Oklahoma, a bond with good and
sufficient surety in the sum of
twenty-five per cent of said hid,
to be approved by the Mayor and
Councilmen of said City, said
bond to be conditioned for the
full and faithful performance of
the contract and execution of the
work, and for the jrotection of
the City and all property owners
interested against any loss or
damage by reason of any negli-
gence or improper execution of
work by such contractor, his
agents or employees; and further,
that the contractor shall execute
a bond with good and sufficient
surety, running to the State of
Oklahoma, in the amount of the
contract price, conditioned that
sair contractor shall pay all claims
arising for material and labor on
said improvement, said bond to
he in all respects as required by
law..
Passed by the Councilmen this
the 8th day of July, 1919. Ap-
proved by the Mayor this 8th
day of July, 1919.
