There is little difference
between a dollar in money
and a dollar’s worth of
grain.
Yet many farmers, who
keep their money in massive stone banks where they
know it will be safe, keep their grain in old and
wasteful granaries.
Did you ever stop to think that every golden grain
of wheat, oats, barley, or corn means so much toward
your income?
Don’t waste your money any longer by thinking
that you can store small grains in a crib built for ear
corn. Your granary must
have tight walls
and floors and
be strong and
durable.
We can help
you build a
granary that
will increase
your yearly
profits.
Come in soon
and we’ll talk
more about
granaries.

Speaking of Smiles
Speaking of smiles: It was
Robert G. Ingersoll who is credit-
ed with once saying: “A morning
smile of a happy soul always
makes for me a glad day."
Would there were more smiles
in life—more of us who could
make a happy day for those who
bask in smiles. Too many of us
grow at times sordid and sellsh
and keep locked in our breast—
shut in ly tight-close lips—the
smile that Nature intended to
come forth from every normal liv-
ing thing.
Yes, it is hard at times to smile
for we all have our griefs, our af-
fairs of which none but ourselves
know aught, ye tif we are so con-
stituted that we can pass on to
others a morning smile it makes
sunshine for the others and for
ourselves as well.
A smile costs so little and mean
so much—it brightens up the path
way of life; it makes of the lowly
a friend and of the highest an ad-
vocate. The man or woman who
has not learned how to smile has
much yet to learn.JOmaha World-

Myron T. Herrick is one of the financial giants of America
as well as a Diplomat and Statesman of the highest order.
He is a successful banker because he has adopted modern
ideas for the institution of which he is the capable head, and
these modern ideas have resulted in a modern service.
This bank is likewise essentially modern in every phase of
its service. It is modernly equipped and prepared to serve its
depositors in amodern manner.
It pursues a po'icy which provides liberal accommodation
and every possible finaucial assistance that a strong bank can
consistantly give.

Current Repairs”
Depreciation
toe At
Aouc o’lJTANCn
Some folks have a theory that there is no
depreciation cost in a telephone exchange; that
the ordinary', day-by-day upkeep of the plant
—the “current repairs”—ought to take care of
all depreciation.
The principal objection to this theory is—it
won’t work! If you think it will, try it out on
your automobile tire. You repair the punctures
and blow-outs in it, of course—but that doesn’t
make it a new tire, and it wears out just the
same!
Patching or repairing a thing does not make
it new. The only cure for depreciation is to
entirely replace the worn or broken part with
a new one. That is what the telephone com-
pany’s annual “depreciation reserve” cost is for
—the replacement of the various parts of the
plant when they become too worn or too obso*
lete for use.
