Abe Hertje, one of the leading
farmers and republican*! of Owen
township, was in the city this morn-
ing on his way home from the county
fair at Newkirk all laden down with
prizes. He carried off a Mi John
Deere sulky plow for the best general
exhibit of agricultural products, hav-
ing 45 varieties in all. He also took
a 110 cash prize; ten other lirst prizes
and two seconds, winning in all the
classes'in which he entered. This
speaks well for the well applied en-
ergy of Mr. Hertje and the produc-
tiveness of his Salt Fork valley farm.
He will take the exhibit to the Guth-
. rie fair, week after next, and will un-
doubtedly bring home some good
