Railroaders Meet.
Last Saturday evening a large
<■ -rowd of Stillwater citizens met
in the opera ' house to discuss
railroad matters, and to organ-
ize for the purpose of securing
better railroad facilities for
Stillwater. The crowd was en-
thusiastic and it looks as if at
hast the people of Stillwater
have gone into it for earnest to
secure another or more railroads
;for their town.
Committees were named and di-
rected to organize local compan-
ies to make surveys and to pro-
ceed with the work at once.
The following are the commit-
tees; G. W. Hall, Wm. Hodges
.said Dale Lytton to survey from
here to Cherry vale, Kansas,
via. Morrison and southwest
through Guthrie and El Reno.
Frank Hutto, J. E. Sater, L. J.
Jardot, to survey from Black-
• well, to south McAlaster, via.

Sclls'Downs Circus.
The Sells Downs circus which
visited the city Wednesday after-
noon and evening was far above
1 he average shows that come to
places of this size. With the
ordinary observer, the merits of
a circus are first judged by the
appearance of the street parade,
and in this particular the spec-
tators dia not exhibit disappoint-
ment with the Sells Downs. The
horses were uice and in excel-
lent condition; the >vagons were
all clean and bright and pretty
uniforms and trimmings gave
the procession an aspect of
freshness. The menagerie was
not extensive but was good and
of much interest to the children.
A commendable feature of the
parade was the absence of the
steam calliope, and a repugnant
feature was the presence of a
ti’io of hoocliie-coochie dancers.
Both the afternoon and even-
ing performances were good and
were attended by fair-sized audi-
ences. (_

There was quite a nice turn-

at the primaries Saturday after-
noon. Delegates were elected to
attend the convention at Still-

street has now been leased, and
through his efforts a popular
donation has been made by busi-
ness men for the establishment
of a feed-shed for the accommo-
dation of farmers’ teams.
Mr. Gray has leased gratui-
tously for two years his lots
where the Edwards lumber yard
formerly stood to Messrs. W. T.
Dalton, F. A. McKenna and
Prof. Chandler who, aided by
the donations above mentioned,
will build on the site a large
shed for the free accommodation
of farmers who desire to use it.
There will be room for a large
number of horses and the build-
ing will be ready by carnival
week.
Such an enterprise would be a
good thing for South Main also
and the move is certainly a good
one, since the main streets of
the city need not be blockaded
by teams if these accommoda
tions are provided.

George Dooley and family left
last week overland for Iowa, his
former home. Mr. Dooley’s
family is well known in this
county, having lived here ever
since the opening, and himself
has been prominent in politics,
serving as under sheriff with
present sheriff, Hesser. George
was a member of the pioneer
colony and is well known by all
of the old timers with whom he
ate turnips. George has gone
back to his old home, to take
care of his aged father. **
Atty. J. M. Springer who has
been visiting in Missouri for
several weeks, returned to Still-
