Charming Function
A very charming linen shower was
given on Thursday evening by Miss
Dorcas Fleming, in honor of Miss
Leonora Crisp, who is soon to become
one of Norman's brides.
The color scheme was most at-
tractively carried out, in pink and
white flowers and other decorations
At a late hour a delicious luncheon
was served, Miss Minnie Haswel! t
the lucky slice of cake.
An enjoyable evening was spent and
many good wishes accompanied rhe
beautiful gifts bestowed upon the
bride-elect.
Thomas Higliley
The Transcript learns that Mr.
Thomas High ley, son of Judge and
Mrs. J. T. Highley, of Oklahoma
City, is making exceptionally good
with the Pyrene people—so "good"
that he has been appointed assistant
manager of the Kansas City district
which takes in half a dozen of the
southwestern states. Thomas is a
member of the Kappa Alpha
fraternity, of which he was one of the
most popular members while attend-
ing the University, and many friends
here will rejoice with him over his
success. He went to Omaha as
agent for the Pyrene people a year or
so ago, and has been steadily pro-
moted to his present position.

After being disbanded for over a
month, the basketball team commonly
known as the Westside, accepted an
invitation to go to Purcell and play the
Purcell hijjh school, Tuesday night.
The superior size and weight of the
high school team could not be over-
come by fast, hard playing on the part
of the local lads and Purcell high
came out victors, 21 to 17. Both teams
played air-light ball, some of the spec-
tators saying it was the best game
ever staged on the Purcell court.
It was the four point lead secured
by the McClain county team three
minutes before the end of the first
half that spelled defeat for the boys
from the University City.
Walter Vowell and Dennis Bernier
started the game at forwards for the
Westside. Earl I.ankfonl and Tom
Phillips at guards and Randolph Chan-
cellor at the pivot position. Scott
Hatcher was substituted at guard,
when Phillips was forced to retire
from the game on account of injuries.
At the beginning of the second half
Bernier was substituted for I.ankfonl
and Solon Curtice for Bernier.
The line-up:

Government Farm
Loans
are cheap because the farmer goes to
it direct for his money. He has been
accustomed to going to the local real
estate man and paying a price for his
money that would allow the loan com-
pany to pay the real estate man from
25 per cent, to 50 per cent of the
commission. We have discontinued
the "Agent" system and will give the
borrower the benefit of this agent's
commission if we make your loan.
