important and difficult part in accom-

every good pianist is a good accompan-

was beautiful and proves her skill with

the name of Hartman near Noble last
spring, the prisoner who was heavily
liand-cuffod turned on the sheriff just
as they were alighting from the
ear and dealt him a heavy blow with
his shackles directly over the left eye,
making a gash nearly two inches long.
Before the sheriff could recover
Morley made a dash for liberty and
escaped through the crowd. The
sheriff telegraphed for his blood
hounds and they arrived this morn-
ing at 7 o'clock but it was impossible
to find the trail of the fugitive, so that
nothing oould be accomplished with
the dogs.
Morley is an all around bad man.
He is about 40 years old and has a
clear charge of 'murder hanging over
his head. The murder for which he
was brought here for trial was com-
mitted for robbery, his victim being
an innoffensive old German.
As soon as sheriff ^milh found that
it was useless to persue the escaped
prisoner last night owing to the dark-
ness of the night, he came up town
and laid in for repairs at Dr. Roberts
office.

The republicans have elected a
majority in the territorial council and
the indications are that they will
have 15 out of every 26 members in the
lower House.
STRONG POPULAR
Considering the fact that J. G.
Strong entered the council race, a
stranger in politics, and less than two
weeks before the election, he made a
phenominai showing. He can feel
justly proud of the vote he received
in both his own and Kingfisher county.
STEPPED AGAINST A HOT STOVE.
A child of Mrs. Geo. T. Benson, when
getting his usual Saturday night bath,
stepped back against a hot stove which
burned him severely. The child was
in great agony and his mother could
do nothing to pacify him. Remember-
ing that she had a bottle of Chamber-
lain's Pain Balm in the house, she
thought she would try it. In less than
half an hour after applying it the child
was quiet and asleep, and in less than
two weeks was well. Mrs. Benson is a
known resident of Kellar, Va. Pain
balm is an antiseptic liniment and
especially valuable for burns, cuts,
bruises and sprains. For sale by C. R.
Miller.

EDGAR WINS.
Edgar W. Jones a democrat, accord-
ing to the Guthrie Leader is elected
by a mojority of 87 votes to the Legis-
lature from Logan county. In the
face of the fact that Logan county
went for McGuire by a majority of
1226 vote6, Jone's election may well
be considered one of the political
wonders ot the territory. In fact it
causes one to wonder whether Jone's
democracy is like Ceaser's wife's
virtue,
