The greatest ambition of Amer-
ican men and women is to have
homes blessed with children. The
woman afflicted with female dig-
ease is constantly menaced with
becoming a childless wife. No
medicine can restore dead or-
gans, but Wine of Cardui does
regulate derangements that pre-
vent conception; does prevent
miscarriage; uoes restore weak
functions and shattered nerves
and does bring babies to homos
barren and desolate for years.
Wine of Cardui gives women the
health and strength to bear heal-
thy children. You can get a

The Democrat is in receipt of a let-

that his son-in-law, A. E. Cooper,
formerly agent for the Rock Island
Railroad Company at this place, but
now Western Traveling Passenger
Agent,with headquarters at Portland,
Ore., has been prcmoted again to the
responsible position of Division Pas-
senger Agent with cilice at Topeka,
Kan. We predicted, when Mr. Cooper
was agent at this place, that there was
a line of promotion before him that
would lead him to the top round of the
ladder in the Rock Island system.
That prophesy is being fulfilled.

eruptions, ulcers on any part of the
body, aching bones or joints, falling
hair, mucous patches, swollen glands,

of deadly cancer. It is u dangerous
condition, but you may be permanently
cured by taking Botanic Blood Balm

CONSUMPTION THREATENED

consumption", says C. Unger, 211
Maple St., Champaign, 111. "I tried a
great many remedies and I was under
the care of physicians for several
months. I used one bottle of Honey
and Tar. It cured me, and I have not
been troubled since." C. R. Miller.

Mr. Dysart but "doctah."
SUMMER COMPLAINT.
If the stomach and bowels are free
from gaseous and sour Huid accumula-
tions and the habits regular, your
children will go through the heated
term without sickness. Dr. Caldwell's
Syrup Pepsin corrects all such troub-
les by removing the obscure cause and
keeps the system in perfect working
order.
The Democrat also has an X-Ray
machine and we intend to use it re-
gardless of threats or intimidation
from gentlemen or easy virtue.
A PHYSICIAN HEALED. •
Dr. Geo. Ewing, a practicing physic-
ian of Smith's Grove, Ky., for over
thirty years, writes his personal ex-
perience with Foley's Kidney .Cure:
"For years I had been greatly bother-
ed with kidney and bladder trouble
and enlarged prostrate gland. I used
everything known to the profession
without relief, until I commenced to
use Foley's Kidney Cure. After tak-
ing three bottles I was entirely reliev-
ed and cured. I prescribe it now daily
in my practice and heartily recom-
mend its use to all physicians for such
troubles. I have prescribed it in hun-
dreds of cases with perfect success."
C. R. Miller.

Dr. Pierce's
Golden Medical
Discovery puri-
fies the blood,
and removes
the corrupt ac-
cumulations
which cause
disease. When
the blood is cleansed, pimples, tetter,
salt-rheum, boils, sores, and other results
of impure blood, are perfectly and j er-
manently cured.
" For thirr vrars I suffered with that dreaded
disease eczema," write* Mrs. J. Koepp, of Her-
man, Oregon. "I wan told to try r r Pierce's
Golden Medical Discovery, which'I did, and af-
ter I had taken fourteen bottles 1 was iienna-
nently cured. It has been a year since I stopped
taking your medicine and it has never appeared
since. 1 think your medicine a wonderful cure
and hope others suffering as I did, will take it
and be relieved of their suffering "
Some of the most remarkable cures
effected by "Golden Medical Discovery,"
have been of scrofulous diseases.
"I will forever thank vou for advisinp: me to
take Dr. Pierces Golden Medical Discovery,'
writes Mrs. Jas Murphy, of Fonda, Pocahontas
Co., Iowa. "It has cured me of chronic scrofula
of twelve years standing. I had doctored for
the trouble until I was completely discouraged.
I also had chronic diarrhea for twelve years. 1
m in good health now—better than I ever was
In my life, owing to Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical
Discovery. 1 took several bottles of the ' Discov-
ery ' before I stopped."
Accept no substitute for " Golden Med-
ical Discovery." There is nothing "just
as good" for diseases of the stomach,
blood and lungs. «
Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets cure dit-
ziness and sick headache.

town of Manitou away, Great damage

APPENDICITIS.
Some Facts Regarding Its Rapid
Increase.
Appendicitis among Americans is
certainly increasing and while this is
probably due to the excitement and
worrv of American business life, it
is more often directly traceable to con-
stipation, Appendicitis is caused by
extraneous matter entering the vermi-
form appendix and not by swollowing
of seeds. If the digestive organs are
kept in ferfect cond'tion so the food is
duly assimulated and the bowels move
gently, at least once a day, appendici-
tis will never develope. Don't take
chances. Regular doses of Dr. Cald-
well's Syrup of Pepsin * before meals
wili strengthen the organs of diges-
tion, your appetite will be good, con-
stipation disappears and you feel bet-
ter in every way. Dr. Caldwell's Sy-
rup Pepsin does not relax the bowels
by irritation, but by curing indiges-
tion, the cause of constipation. Sell
it in 50c and $1.00 bottles, under a
positive guarantee. Write for book of
testimonials to Pepsin Syrup Co ,
