1'he Court,—the District Court -well
wed.) not know what it is doing today.
Court news is dry news anyway and
it would take an army of reporters to
wait on the dignified gentlemen of
the law to secure any news outside of
mere indexed titles of cases.
In case Enid secures the capital
the hospital people of Enid will be
pleased to allow the use of our
magnificant land office building to
Oov. Ferguson as an executive man-
sion. We are quite sure the govern-
or would be delighted with it as wgll
as his Kingfisher darktown friends.
Attention is called to the ad of
Evans Bros on third page. This firm
is up to snuff and the times, as shoe

and their prices are "incutable".

toilet. He is dressing for churcn ser-

O J. Fleming has moved into his
magnificant new residence on Pine
street Kenwood Heigts.
Or in other words, Mr. Fleming
says he has been moving in for two
weeks, but the family has been drove
from room to room by carpet stretch-
ers, plumbers, painters, decorators
and every kind of trades man except
the ice man. The Flemings will be
cosilev homed when all the new furni-
ture is placed in position,—but,—-
then comes trouble with the chamber-
maid, cook and gardener. It is a
question whether we are happier in
a big house than a little one.
TRUE FRIEND OR ENEMY.
There are plenty of ways to kill a
bill before congress without actually
stepping on it or sitting down on it.
Sometimes the men who are seem
ingly the most in favorof the measure
are its worst enemies. They word
the bill or make it so objectionable
to others that it would not pass, yet
the true enemy stands as a friend to
tbe measure while the true friend to
a good measure is considered the
enemy of a measure entirely unsatis-
factory.
It seems to us that the senate of
the United States is taking a route
in the statehood measure that will lay
it in its little grave for this session of
congress. The cutting out of New
Mexico and Arizona will kill all state-
uood legislation in the opinion abiding
nere. The democrats will insist on
the admission < f all three or none,
hen the republicans will attempt to
ilame the failure of statehood >.n the
emocracy.

that ungawdely commission.
I he Dawes commission doing an in-
ternal, eternal and infernal business
in the Indian Territory for these
many years past has issued another
proclamation which covers three
times tbe space in a newspaper as the
president's message did. It tells all
about the Indians as it did last year
and the year before and on and on
away back during the past centuries
the commission has been in existence.
It gives figures and figures but it
fails to tell the people the one great
thing they desire to know so well and
that is simply, when is the Dawes com-
mission going to get through with
its ardorous duties. The people would
like a lapse of fifteen years before
the commission is heard from again
and then only as its work comes up
in history. If the commission was
limited to six months to finish its
work it would get through on time,
but as it is now unlimited, its labors
are liable to be strung out through
all eternity.
HISTORICAL MURDER case.
Wichita Eagle: That Jessie Mor-
rison case, over in El Dorado, bids
lair to hang on in one phase or an-
other indefinitely.
The defendant was arrested, jaileo
found guilty, sent to the penitentiary
got into the supreme court, releasee!
tried again, and found five times more-
guilty than in the lirst instance
She will soon be ready for anothe
trial. Bankruptcy of the county can
only prevent it. In the meantime
one of the lawyers in the case was
charged with committing a crime in
his efforts to clear his client, one
juror was convicted of stealing monej
from another juror, and still another
juror was charged with having beeut
bribed, and finally, the principal wit-
ness in the case has just been tried
and found guilty of perjury and wilt
have to go to the penitentiary. The
little dark-eyed Jessie must have-?
been born under a malignant star in
the dark of the moon.

A farmer was loafing around town

follows:
It makes ine a lot more tired

it would to work. My joints are stiff

shows that loafing is not rest for
some people.
This is the day set apart at last
