A Word to Parents.
All will Hgree that the present condi-
tion of our schools is deplorable, and the
parents of children of school age are
wondering what tney can do to retred>
existing conditions. The pubi c schools
will not again opeu this wiutcr, und
might not next. We must do some
thing.
The no' academy, which opened its
doors last Monduy. will solve the <iu«a-
tion it our people will take hold of it at

patroniee this "when they eee what it
amounts to." Friends, there is no bet.

Don't wait to S9« what it will do, l,ut
take hold and help mnke it what you
want to see it. It will be backed by ii
a strong organization, when Ihey lind
that our people wa"t it and will patron-
ize it. If we do not take hold and show
our interest iu, and appreciation of, it at
once, we wi 1 probably lose the irstitf-
tion. We mustnot let this elip. It can
be mads n strong institution—one ot
which the Territory will lie proud.
The teacherB are thoroughly compe-
tent, and our children nill receive fut
greater ndvanteges than they could lit
any public schoo's, and what should
mean more to every parent, they will be
largely freo from the evil .inll'ienceo s<.
common to our public schools. The
moral character of the children will bo
closely guarded, which enn not be <lono
so well in the commonsohools. This iu
itself should insure a large attendance,
and, when coupled with the fact that
the institution will be of the highes.
type, there is no reason why any parent
should delay a day.
The proper education of children is n
sacred duty which none should ignore.
A great many are thinking of send.n^'
their children away to suhool; don't do
that, but patroni^i our home institu-
tion and do so at onos. Send your ai I
