have many points worthy of deep i
consideration. There
grave defects in our present method
of state government, thus; our leg-
islative bodies are too large and un-
wieldy: Two houses are not neces-
sary to good government now and
only contribute to unwieldiness.
The salaries now paid to our large
membership in many cases give us
mediocre talent for making our
laws. The new system would cure
these defects as it would reduce the
membership, be composed of only
one house and the compensation
would be adequate. There is of
course the objection that the mem-
bers of the commission would not
be as close to the people as the
present members of the legislature
but the recall feature would be an
effective check on them. While
this plan of government mav never
li • tried it is worthy "f considera-
tion. Since the Union was found
there has been no fundamental
change in our method of state gov-
ernment. Conditions have changed
greatly but the same old instru-
ments of government are used in the
new conditions. Government should
change to suit conditions, as con-
ditions will not conform to govern-
ment.

SpiritUm Said to B« Demoniam.
A most interring little brochure
bu recently come off the press setting
forth with Bible proofs that the com-
muniratious received by and through
fipirUint Mediums Is of Demon origin.
The writer tTaces his subject through
the Scriptures from the time when
certain of tb« holy angels beoame dis-
obedient. I!e proves from the Scrip-
tures that ihme fallen spirits per
■onate the human dead, with whose
past hifltorj, spirits, though invisible,
are thoroughly acquainted. He showa
that they also frequently person-
ate the Creator and tile Redeemer,
commanding their deceived ones to
pray, do penance, etc. This, however,
is merely to lead thorn on and to bring
them more thoroughly under demoni
acal control. Sometimes by breaking
down the natural barrier, the human
will, they possess their victim, nnd rule
htm more or less to his ruin frequent-
ly sending such to the mad house.
Numerous Illustrations, Scriptural and
otherwise, are given. The price of the
little book is but ten crnLs, it should
be in the hands of all interested in
Spiritism or who have friends inter-
ested therein. Enclose five two-cent
stamps to the Bible and Tract Society,
