and rearin g properties of the boars
and sows bred from. The great idea
has been to produce a pig short in tho
head, heavy in the jowl, thick in tho
shoulder, and wide on tho top, and
then • to mako it so beastly fat that it
could neither oat grass, walk about
or produce its species; nor was it lit
for anything but to ronder into lard.
This Is exactly tho most usoless and
tho most un profitable kind of a pig it
is possible to produce. The folly, like
any other silly fancy, takos a lot of
killing, but although it die • hard, its
death knell is sounded, und nothing

Tim "•trippings" of Milk.
Most farmers understand the im-
portance of getting milk to the last
drop that will come from tho udder.
Not only is this milk tho richest, so
that leaving iL to tho cow is a loss,
but it rapidly dries her up, and if the
careless milking is repeated the cow
will fatten, and if well fed. will soon
be entirely dry. There are several
reasons why this last milk is tho
richest. It is not cream, and does
not rise through tho udder to the top.
llut tho fat globules being lighter sink
more rapidly and first roach tho teats.
Hesidos, as milk production is always
going on, this last drawn has been
made in less time, and has, therefore
had less of its fat absorbed by tho
cow. If milking were dono three
times por day. instead of only twe,
