It. C. l'ropes and family, late arri-
vals from Georgia, have taken rooms
at the Ilardwick house.
The late heavy rains brought the
Canadian up a few notches, but not to
a mark beyond fording.
Holiday goods are now on exhibition
in the store windows and present quite
an attractive appearance.
Neal Smith has completed his cozy

Mrs. E. M. Abernathy graces toe

a fair indication of the influx of immi-

other having been closed by injunc-
tion.
Toll Bohanan, the restuirant man.
is laid up with rheumatism, being com-
pelled to temporarily close his place of

Henry Catcher this week placed ex-

the graves of his departed wife and

lots in the "west 80" on January 18.
E. J. Keller represented Lexington
at the statehood convention, Lafe Mer-
ritt, the other delegate being unable to
attend. Very little was done, except
to pass resolutions favoring statehood.
A number of civil cases have come
before Justice Moscly the past week,
one being a suit against a townsman to
recover tifty cents. The plaintiff won
the case and the defendant pays $13 in
costs.

week's duration ceased Tuesday, when
the clouds cleared away, letting the
sun come out once more. The weather
has since been pleasant, with crisp,
frosty mornings.
Before another issue of this moral
weekly, Christmas of '91 will have
passed into oblivion. We hope the day
mav bring happiness to every house-
hold—especially the need * _-'xnd wish
all a merry, merry Christmas.
Mrs. X. R. Smith died at the family
residence just west of town on the 1th.
She had been quite low for some time
with consumption and her death was

Mrs. M. K. Dorrancj arrived here
last Sunday night after a prolonged
visit with friends and relatives in
Iowa and Illinois. She had a severe
