There h no term more indefinite
and misleading than the ttriu
"binietultai" or "blmetalism." A
bluietalist is one who advocates the
mo of two metals, generally con-
strued to mean gold and silver in
this day and age, as the money of
the world. This "bimctalisl'' may
be in favor of the free and unlimit-
ed coinage of both gold and si vi r
;it the rate of 16 to 1; or he may be
in favor of free coinage of the home
product; or ho mav be in favor of
cold standurd with silver ns sub-
sidiary money; or he may be in
favor of a silver standard with gold
as subsidiary money; or he may he
in favor ol any other scheme in
which notli gold and silver aro to
ho recognized as money, and still
he a "bimetalist." A "Bimetalic
club" is about as indetini*e a name
as could ho sloeted for an organiza-
tion.
The term 'monomefali t" is some-
what more definite, as a mononiet-
a'ist must believe in the exclusive
use of one metal, be that gold, sil-
ver, or w hat not, as money. The
term now meansn "gold bug," or
one who favors the exclusive use of
gold as money.
Ho in the future, when you hear a
"liimetalic club" spoken of, ask the
speaker to use a more explicit term;
one that will express the shade of
belief the club holds on the money
question. A "16 to 1" club Would be
a much better name for the organ-
ization of our free-silver friends.

The contract with the syndicate

If there were a present necessity
