The Kejiulilicim Kxl'ast Masters |
throughout the slate are busily I
engaged in putting fuel under the j
political pot and starting up a fire
in the contest between Harris and
McGraw for national committe-
num. For the Ex-Past Master
editors and other ex federal office j
holders Harris looks good and they
are tumbling into bis band wagon
and he looks like an easy winner
in the contest.
In view of the great uncertainty
of the outcome of the national
republican convention, an unin-
structed delegation will perhaps
be sent from this state.
This will mean a Roosevelt dele-
gation in case Teddy should toss
his hat into the ring in the na-
tional convention. They went
through a slaughter house to an
open grave with Taft at Chicago
four years ago and they are not
looking forward to a similar exper-
ience in Chicago this year. Okla-
homa republicans are going to ride
in the band wagon this year if
there is one running after the con-
vention .
In 18!K> the Republicans in
Oklahoma declared in thunderous
tones for Free Silver in March and
in .lutie made the discovery that
they had lost out and became de-
tached from the national republi
can band wagon which was labeled
"For the Gold Standard
They had to nurse their free sil-
ver idea or go with Bryan, and of
course the organization reversed
but a large number failed to and
the free silver candidates won in
territorial cainpaigu. Since that
eventful date Oklahoma Republi-
cans have exercised great caution,
in the matter of attempting to for-
mulate a national platform for the
republican part\
