J. Luther Langston, one of
the Socialist candidates on the
state ticket, has been expelled
from the Socialist party because
he is alleged to have contributed
to the campaign of Mont R.
Powell, democratic candidate
for congress in this district.
This indeed settles all hope of
Langston's election this fall.
If the democratic and republican
parties were to resort to such
vigorous party discipline as the
Socialist party, they would,
perhaps, poll about a like vote
in the general election,

A novel scheme that ought to
be successful, has just been out-
lined by the Oklahoma Panama
Exposition Commission in a let-
ter to the mayor of every town
and city in Oklahoma.
Governor Cruce recently desig-
nated Saturday, August 15th, as
EXPOSITION DOLLAR DAY
and the Commission is making it
"Tag Day" throughout the State.
They have written every mayor j
urging his co-operation and en-1
closing a few tags to be sold at >
$1.00 each in his town. They ;
ask the mayor to attend to the j
matter personally if possible,:
but if too busy, to get some ]
business men, church society, or j
young ladies to attend to the1
matter, and have arranged with
the Daily Oklahoman to publish
August 23rd, a complete record
showing towns contributing,
name of party superintending
the "Tag Day" in each town, and
the amount remitted. A list will
also be published of those towns
that do not contribute anything.
Only a small number of tags is
being sent to each town and it
is expected that the full amount
will be sold in every instance,
and thus assure the early suc-
cess of this big movement.

Q. When inquiry is made of the
Watchman, "What of the night," what
is meant by the reply, "The morning
cometh, and also the night" (Isaiah
20:11,12)7
Auswer.—For bU thousand years
"darkness lias covered the earth and
Kress darkness the people" in general,
but the morning of the new dispensa-
tion comet! In which that true light
shall lighten every man that cometh
Into the world. Preceding the new day,
however, must come a dark night of
trouble to prepare the world to appre-
ciate the blessings Ood has in store for
them. The trouble will be brought on
by their own selfishness, so apparent
in all walks of life today. Rich and
poor alike are "looking out for number
one." When the night shall have
cleared away then "the knowledge of
the glory of Ood shall till the whole
earth as the waters cover the sea"
(Habakkuk 2:14). "The Sun of right-
eousness (Christ) shall arise with heal-
ing In his beams" (Malachl 4:2) and
"Then shall the righteous (Christ aud
His glorified Church) shine forth as
the sun in the kingdom of tbelr
Father" (Matthew 13:43). "Awake, O
earth! the day Is dawning; lie comes
whose right it Is to reign."

Q.—Can the God who commanded
the tlaying of the Amalekitea be juat?
(F. D.)
Answer.—The difficulty is with the
foundation laid by the creeds of the
j "dark ages which we have reverenUy
i worshiped because we supposed that
they directly represented and inter-
preted the Scriptures. To have the
right understanding we need to go to
the very bottom of the subject aud to
call attention to the fact that those
who demur against the Justice of the
slaughter of the Amalekltes, men,
women and children accept as a fact
something much more atrocious, and
often glory in it They had only a
moment of suffering. Our creeds still
teach that Gud has somewhere a great
furnace called hell, large enough to
contain the entire human family of
thousands of millions; that lit- made
this before He made man, aud that all
except the few saintly are to spend
eternity there. As children of Adam,
the Amalekltes all came under the
death sentence aud the Israelites were
merely the exeoutlouers. As a matter
of fact the destroying of that nation
by the sword of the Israelites caused
far less pain and suffering than if a
plague had been permitted to come
upon them for their destruction
Famine and pestilence have ravaged
the world and caused a hundred times
the distress connected with the suddeu
death by the sword, aud all must admit
that God had as much power to stop
the Israelites from slaughtering the
Amalekltes as to stop some of the
plagues and famines which have swept
away much larger numbers In other
families of our race. For the race to
.continue longer In life was to sink
lower In sin and thus to have the more
difficulty In rising to perfection of
character and life in their resurrec-
tion. Thus their destruction was an
evidence not only of God's wisdom aud
power but also of His love.

RUCKER'S
Q.—What does it mean when the Bi-
ble says there shall be wailing and
gnashing of teeth? Please explain in
full. (8. W. S.)
Answer.—At^ explanation of this ex-
pression as it occurs in the parable of
the wheat and the tares (Matthew
13:24-30, 36-43) will suffice to explain
it as used on several other occasions.
The Son of Man had sowed good seed
in bis field but the enemy, Satan, later
sowed tares, imitation wheat They
always expect some tares In each crop
in the eastern countries, but in this
case there were uuusunl quantities, so
much that the hired man could not pull
them up. When the harvest would
come tbey would separate the tares
from the wheat and burn them as
usual that there would be no danger
of scattering the weed. This story
was used by our Lord to represent the
condition of the Christian church for
the last eighteen hundred years. There
have been many imitation Christians
made by the doctrines scattered by the
adversary. All true Christians have
been drawn of the lather (John 0:44)
by the power of love; never by fear
Ood bath not given us the spirit of
fear, but • * * of love and of a sound
mind" (Timothy 1:7i True, many whom
God has drawn have believed false
doctrines, but it was not the untruth
that drew them. This fear which God
refused to use Is the very means that
has suited Satan for drawing his con
verts, a fear of eternal \orment In a
time of trouble at the end of the age
their true character will be revealed,
aud they will be destroyed as tares,
will cease to be tares. The weeping
and gnashing of teeth prove that thes.-
nominal Christians are not destroyed
as individuals, else they could not
weep. The cause for their anguish
will be the realization that the salut
ly ones with whom tbey have been as
sociated have Inherited the promises
aud they themselves are left out
Later they will learn of the message
of the kingdom, of how the glorified
Lord and saints are to bless all the
families of the earth with a restoration
to the conditions enjoyed by Adam be
fore his sin Then their tears will be
dried. "He shall wipe away tears
from all faces" (IsalaH 26:8; Hevela
tloo 21:4).

Summer Constitution Dangerous
Constipation in Hummer-time is more
dangerous than in the fall, winter or
spring. The food you eat is often con-
taminated and is more likely to ferment
in your stomach. Then you are apt to
drink much cold water during the hot
weather, thus injuring your stomach.
Colic, Fever, Ptomaine Posioning and
other ills are nature results. Po-Do-Lax

Not So Strange After All
You may think it strange that so many
people are cured of stomach trouble by
Chamberlain's Tablets. You would not,
however, if you should give them a trail.
They strengthen and invigorate the
stomach and enable it to perform its
functions naturally. Mrs. ltosie Rish,

berlain's Tablets. It is decidedly the
best medicine for stomach trouble 1 have
ever used." For sale by all dealers.
