To the Republican Voters of the Pro-
posed Ellis County, Oklahoma.
Notice is nereby given that a Re-
publican County Convention will be
held at Shattuck, OKlahoma, at 10
o’clock, a. m., on August 19th, 1907,
for the purpose of nomination candi-
dates for the following county offices:
Judge of the County Court, County
Attorney, Clerk of the District Court,
County Clerk, Sheriff County Treasur-
er, Register of Deeds, County Survey-
or, Snermtendant of Public Instruc-
tions, Members of the State Legislat-
ure, and County Commissioners.
Primaries are hereby called to meet
in the various precincts of the pro-
posed Ellis County at 2 o’clock, p. m.
on August 16th, 1907, to elect the
number of delegates specified below
to the County Convention.

The announcement column of the
Republican contains this week the
announcement of W. Story Sherman
as a candidate for the repuillican
nomination for member of the house
of representatives from Ellis county.
Mr. Sherman is a republican of
many years standing,having always ta-
ken part in party deliberations wher-
ever Jie has lived. He came to OKla-
loma 15 years ago, and has imbibed
his share of the breezy western spirit
which has done so much to make Ok-
lahoma the great state it should be
While he has never before been a
candidate for any elective office, with
the exception of trustee of the town
of Shattuck, he has held several posi-
tions of importance in the republican
party organization. While a resident
of Canadian county he was terrirorial
committeeman of that county and a
delegate to many conventions. He
was formerly a member of the Caddo
county republican central committee,
and was the first president of the
Farmers Union No. 410, where he
farmed for several years and where
he still conducts a large farm. The
Farmers Union convention at Tisho-
mingo and to the national conver..
tion at Texarkana.
Mr. Sherman Is a man of wide ex-
perience and great ability and will un-
doubtedly be an influence in the legis-
lature if chosen as Ellis county’s
member,
