CASH ANNOUNCEMENT
AND CONTINUATION OF MOBLEY’S
BIG CLOSING-OUT SALE
__________________________ _ _____________________
1 Cash Rule Effective September 1st
I.
Our buyer has just returned from the eastern markets where we found merchandising con-
ditions in a very upset and uncertain condition. We were able to obtain no assurance of.
obtaining goods for next year at all. As for prices now we found in almost every line that
wholesale prices were higher than our present retail pricer for die same goods and that
wholesalers are in most cases practically demanding cash with orders for goods. This inevi-
tably forces us to place our business on a STRICTLY CASH BASIS—if we sure to continue in
business at all. 1) In all our merchandising experience we have never encountered conditions
such as those now prevailing. Under existing circumstances this can mean but one thing to the
careful merchant who wants to protect both himself an dhis customers: He simply must have
the cash for all goods sold. It is not a question of whether or not a customer’s credit is “good”
—it is simply a case of where the merchant must have either the goods or the money on hand at
all times. We have a great many friends and customers whose credit it always good so far
as their Ability and willingness to pay is concerned but nevertheless our new cash policy which
goes into effect September 1st must apply to everyone—there can be no exceptions. 1 By our
new cash method we shall, of course, be able to elimniate all losses through bad accounts, and
this saving will enable us to sell goods at MATERIAL PRICE REDUCTIONS from what we
would otherwise be compelled to charge you for the same goods. 1) In this way we hope to not
only be able to retain all our old friends and c ustomers, but we expect to gain many new ones
through the attractive prices we offer.
