September 19th with the greatest stock

ever sold goods at before. You all know

since we came to Geary so you can come

goods than ever before. We have twice
as many goods as we ever had before

leave Geary. She has been oper-
ating the Silver Front for the
past two years and has made
many friends who regret to see
her leave.

Last Monday night, about 11
o’clock, Thomas Cody, a well to
do farmer living near Greentield,
was shot by his neighbor, J. D.
Johnson, and died from the
effects of the wound at 11 o’clock
the next day.
It seems that Cody had been
to Watongaand bad gotten drunk
on whiskey wnicb he claims to
lave purchased from a Watonga
attorney. When he returned he
told some of his friends that he
was going over to see his friend
Johnson, the best friend he ever
bad. When he arrived at John-
son's home he stepped in at the
door aud told Johnson and his
family that he bad come to ar-
rest them and that he intended
to blow their heads off if they
made any trouble. He walked
through two doors, Johnson
telling hi.n all the time to come
no further or he would kill him,
but he paid no attention to the
warning and continued to ad-
vance. with a Winchester rifle in
his hand, to the room where
Johnson and his wife were.
Johnson was standing »n the
door of the room with an old
wired-up shotguu, which would
not stsed cocked, and as C'kiy
continued to advance he dis
charged ihe gun. the entire load
taking effect in Cody’s side about
three inches to the right of his
navel.
Drs. Rogers and Wmte were
summoned to his side and
reached the Johnson home about.
2 o'clock where they found C'xiy I
to be mortally wounded and past
all medical or surgical aid.
He was lying on the floor iu a
pool of blood and dirt The
charge of shot having torn a hole
in his side as large as a hand
and the interior wall of the ab-
domen bad been torn away and
his intestines were lying on the
floor. The wound was dressed
and everything possible

Tuesday afternoon Justice
Ralls, acting as coroner, held an
inquest over the remains. Tbe
state was represented by Assist
ant County Attorney Dyer. The
coroner's jury rendered the fol-
lowing verdict:
We, the jurors duly sworn and
empanelled to set as a coroner's
jury on an inquest held over tbe
remains of one Tom Cody, here
lying dead in Blaine county. up-
on our oaths find that the said
Tom Cody, on the 8th day of
September, 1908, came to his
death from a gun shot wound,
which said gun shot wound was
inflicted by means of a certain
shot gun then and there in the
hands of one J. D. Johnson, and
that the inflicting of said wound
by the said J. D. Johnson was
