chant of Guymon, who is looking
at our town. They report crops
looking better in this vicinity
than any place they had seen.
There is no reason why the
Republicans should not elect the
entire county ticket at the elec-
tion this fall. We have a good
working majority but the voters
are determined to have a clean
set of officers and we will have
to put up a ticket composed of
honest straightforward men who
have the confidence of the peo-
ple.
course the post office department
had to make the letters good
Now comes the postal authorities
and are suing the Rock Island
railroad company for the amount
of these registered letters lost.
O. V Dillon, J. W. Deam and
Paul Self were summoned to
Oklahoma City this week where
they will make depositions in
the case before a United States
Commissioner- Later the case
will be taken up and tried by
the federal court at Chicago.
Democratic Fow Wow
There seems to be a great dea
of dissention among a part of the
democratic county officers. Ac
cording to report County Attor-
ney Emery had procured some
affidavits from some prisoners
confined in the county jail mak-
ing charges against Sheriff Suth-
erland, and a meeting of the
board of county commissioners
on Thursday of this week, at
which time it is said charges will
be preferred.
What the outcome will be we
are unable to say, but the charge
is a serious one and Mr. Souther-
land should be given a fair and
impartial hearing, and if found
guilty he should be removed, but
if on the other hand he can prove
his innocence he should be fully
exonerated.
Presbyterian Aid
The Presbyterian Aid and a
number of invited guests were
pleasantly entertained at the
home of Mrs. Dr- Stougb Thurs-
day last. The ladies had plenty
of work to do and the time was
spent sewing. At the close of
the meeting the hostess served a
dainty substantial luncheon.
The bazaar recently given by
the aid was well attended; any-
one desiring ready-made aj-rens
can get them of Mrs. Stougb as
the ladies have some on hand.

DickatoJf’s Jewel? Store
A. O. Dickason has put in new
cases to display his stock of
jewelry which he will open short-
y in connection with hia variety
store on West Main. He will
handle a large and complete
stock of jewelry and do all kinds
of watch and jewelry repairing.
Mr. Dickason is one of Geary’s
moat progressive and up-to-date
business men. He solicits and
deserves a share of the jewelry
business.
Some Fine Neighbors
It would be a hard matter to
convince A. B- Thompson that
he does not live in the best
neighborhood and has some of
the best neighbors in Oklahoma,
and in fact they have proven it
so. On the 28th day of March
he had the misfortune to break
his arm.
On Good Friday the neighbors
gathered at hia place and plan
ted a large patch of pntntnitrfpr
him. About two weeks tarn:
they again came in and plantec
his garden and disced about
fifty feres of corn ground. To-
day tlAre are five teams a
listers at work in that field ahd
by the time the sun goes down
his fifty acres of corn will be
planted.
The spirit that prompts these
sets are of the highest and the
neighbors who so kindly anc
generously assisted them will re-
ceive their reward some time
Oklahoma has some good peo-
ple within her bounds.
Geary as a Market
For three years past we have
had very short crops in this sec
tion. our farmers have hac
comparatively nothing to sell
a great many people have been
out of employment, business
among our merchants has been
slack and Geary has not grown
any—in fact is not as good
town as she was five years ago.
But with the present outlook for
crops and good business genera
ly the town should begin to im
prove. Under favorable con
ditions the farmers will soon
have crops to sell and there
should be inducements offered to
bring more farmers to town
than ever before. Good mar-
kets should be provided for
everything they have to sell, and
the commercial club and all the
business men should see to
The time is now ripe to begin
preparations for the coming sea
•on. We hope that no farmer
will have occasion to say that
they can sell for a little bet-
ter price or are treated better in
any way at any other point than
at Geary.
Dr. Calvin B. Moody, presi-
dent of Kingfisher College, will
preach Sunday morning at the
Presbyterian church. Come and
hear him.
