"keeping everlastingly at it is bound to bring success
Cashion, kingfisher county, oklahoma, Thursday, January 25 1917
no. 39
Considerable excitement regard
ing the oil situation prevails in
Cashion at the present time. With
a great deal of the land around
here leased; rig timbers and ma
chinery being shipped into King
fisher and the talk of test wells
iu this immediate vicinity, things
are warming up a bit and some
of the fellows around town are
buying leases. It's a sure shot
that Cashion will have a test well
put down before many months.
CASHION IS ON PROPOSED
OZARK TRAIL
Henry Borklund was in Okla-
homa City Tuesday in the inter-
est of cashion securing the Ozark
Trail. Representatives f.rom
Guthrie, Okarche and other points
were there and if Cashion wants
to be on the O. T„ all they have
to do is get busy. Guthrie of
course is for us as the proposed
trail will run west from Guthrie
thru Cashion, Reedi n g an d
Okarche. This would mean a
great deal to Cashion and every
citizen should get behind this
movement either with some cash
or work and get this road in con-
dition to secure this highway.
You can't find any deal that will
increase the value of your real
estate holdings more for the same
investment than securing t h e
Ozark Trail.
Seals-Bugg Nuptials
Chas. Bugg surprised a num-
ber of his friends here last Mon
day by slipping over to Guthrie
and returning with a bride. The
girl in the case was Miss \ ills
Seals of Crescent.
They will maKe their home at
the Bugg residence and Charley
will continue working at the
Cashion Machine Shop and Gar
age. The Independent extends
congratulations.
A newly proposed rout of the
Ozark Trail, the great National
Highway, being promoted from i
St. Louis to the Pacific, is a short
cut from Guthrie to Geary con
nesting with the Oil Fields at the
former place and the northern
route to Amarillo Texas at the
latter place. This line passes
thru Logan, Kingfisher and Cana-
dian counties and would probably
touch Cashion, Reeding, Okarche
and Calumet and runs thru coun
try where a good road can be
easily built; is twenty-five miles
shorter than any other proposed
route and is said to be strongly
favored by Col. Harvey, president
of the National Ozark Trails As
sociation, who is a strong advo
cate of the short route always
A temporary organization was
perfected at a meeting with Col.
Harvey at Oklahoma City Jan 23
with Postmaster Woodson o f
Okarche, chairman, and Henry
i
Borklund of Cashion as secretary |
and a convention called to meet
at Okarche on Tuesday January
30. at 11 a m. and 1 p. m. Every
iesident of any of the towns along
the proposed line and every farm
ec living on the line or tributary
thereto should be present at thin,
convention prepared to take part j
and help in the organization and i
construction of the line, as the
time for adlion is short This is
an opportunity to secure a great
national highway and one that
may never conie to these com
munities again. Come and bring
the other fellows along.
