this dty for a carriage belonging to a

complied with. Three women got in
the rig and drova rapidly about the
streets. At a busy corner they ran
over a little child and Its mother. In
the confusion the woman escaped, hut
the carriage was held. The owner of
the outfit has no idea who the women
were or how they came to get his car-
riage. The police are mystified by the
affair, but are making strong efforts

ards has notified Secretary Thomas
Morris of the livestock sanitary board
that the farmers In the vicinity of Per-
kins, who have been opposing the en-
forcement of th< quarantine regula-
tions, are now voluntarily asking for
inspection. The change of sentiment,
he says, is due t the construction of
| the law by Probate Judge Smith last
week, who held on all legal points In
favor of the sanitary board.

referred the matter to persons at
Muskogee, the former residence of
Gus Bltner, the man found dead In
a livery barn on Ca'Ifornla avenue

munications with relatives begun by

His former home was found to be
