THE STORM
The hardest storm of the season
it this place occurred Monday even
ing. The clouds came rolling in
from the southwest in all their black
fury and forced all, or nearly all
who had "fraid holes" to crawl in
them and hide.
The wind blew a g*'e an 1 wi'h
the rain in veritable sheets it was
impossible to see as far as across the
street at times. It lasted about 20
minutes and all whs comparitively
quiet again.
The tent occupied by K. E.
Morse and family blew down on
them and they were forced to beat
a retreat through the heavy rain to
J. C. Hoggs store.
The house of E. I. Porter's was
moved a little from the foundation.
At B. P. Williams it is said the
edge of the house 1 fted up so much
that it tipped a cupboard over
The seed house at the old Rooney !
& Lomski gin blew over and a large
water tank (empty) blew across the
prairie.
No one was hurt, but everybody
was scared, and now there are at
least four "fraid holes" in course of
construction. Some of them were
started befure breakfast the next
day. Those we learned of are
