Dr. Ridley has been doing some
improving around his preimses by
building a nice addition to his sta-
ble, and likewise building a sub-
stantial ehicken house. This will
house all of his live stock and pro-
tect them from the winter weather.
It is true that our winters are mild,
but a good shelter is a good invest-
ment and a feed saver.
Rev. J. V. Davis has been con-
ducting revival services at the
school house since Sunday evening,
he has been preaching some good
sermons and is a very earnest work
er. As yet no cspecial iuterest has
been noticeable among those out-
ride the membership of the church-
es, but it is hoped by all that a good
rousing, old fashioned revival may
be had.
3. Black, who lives four miles
east of here made this office a pleas
ant call Tuesday. Mr. Black has
a good farm home and came here at
the opening and hoiaesteaded the
phce. He has lived on the place
all but two years of that time. He
has a family of children of whom
he is very proud and it is his inten-
tion to make school teachers of all
| of them. One young lady, Miss
May, has already secured a certifi-
cate.
A Kansas oil man was in town
and it is reported, leased three acres
of land from I>. Musseleck in the
comer nej;t to the Santa ]Pa and
Frisco tracks, Monday. He agrees
to put up a drilling rig and com-
mence drilling inside of thirty days.
The report further says that that
was all the land he wanted, because
wheu he struck oil he could get all
the additional leases he wants. Its
to be a race now between our home
company and the other tallow as to
who strikes oil first.
J. A. Sherrer, territorial deputy
f the Modern Woodmen of Ameri-
ca, was here part Oi la-" *—"k and
this helping the local camp initiate
some new membeis and otherwise
lending a helping hand and offering
a cherry word. His presence was
an inspiration to the boys. He left
yesterday over the Santa F e for his
home at Guthrie. He says he nev-
er met up with a more enthusiastic
lot of young Woodmen than he met
during his short stay here. The
local cainp now has a membership
of about 25.
