Mrs E. B. Thome's Report of the
Annual Meeting of Feder-
ated Women's Clubs
of Oklahoma.
^ our delegates left Hennessey,
Monday night for Ardmore via
Ellteno and Oklahoma City, arriv
ing in Ardmore, a city of about
eighteen thousand inhabitants,
at 3:3i> a. m. Tuesday. After
rest ;ui<] refreshment, we report-
ed to the credentials committee
and were registered and given
badges. We next met the hospi-
tality committee and were assign-
ed places. Mrs. Darrow was
most fortunately entertained in
the handsome hnmeof Ardmore's
distinguished physician, Dr. Von |
Keller while I was one of thel
sixteen entertained at the Adrien !
by the lovely Mrs [{ p Turner
of Ardmore, then General Feder
ation Secretary. Ardmore furn I
Elks Hall, to the officers,
delegates, and visiting club
ladies. About 500 were present.
I here was music, and delicious
punch was served.
The convention was called to
order at!) the next morning.
Several tine talks were given.
We enjoyed those on Household
Economics very much. Mrs. M
E. Hart, who, by the way, was
elected the 1st president of our
district, had a fine exhibit of
work done by the Guthrie public
schools and the County High
School. Mrs. Hart said "It
seems the people are becoming
thoroughly aroused to the idea
of something practical in the
education of the rising genera
tion. " "The Hope of Any Nation."
There is 110 educational course in
which the Arts and Sciences can

and inspired more zeal in Gener

also brought from Longan Par-

jollify, glorify practical living."
During the discussion on art,
Mrs. Scott of Shawnee read a
paper on this subject which was
most interesting.
During the reports of the Local
| Clubs, your delegates felt ex
insignificant,. Nearly
every club reported civic improve
mont or philanthropic work done.
We wish all our club coulu have
heard these reports.
Thursday was a very strenuous
day. The convention went into
executive tension behind closed
doors until after dark.
llie most important work of
.lie Ardmore meeting was the
successful ainalj •amatinii of the
t wo federations. The report of
the committees appointed by
'ie ye.ir ago was
unanimously adopted and amal-
gamation was effected harmon-
iously. Under the new constitu-
tion, the state is divided into five
districts according to the con-
gressional districts. Each dis-
trict met in canvas and eleoted a
district president and the federa
tions in each district will hold
sessions between April 15 and
May 15.
V i 11 itu is the only city which
has invited the federation next
year and the executive committee
will defer naming the federation
town until a later date.

HENNESSEY'S
3d MARKET DAY SALE
Will be Held on
Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1908
Our former Market Day Sales have proved
that these sales will be a success in Hennessey,
and the last was better than the first. We urge
everybody having anything to sell at these sales
to list it early at either bank in Hennessey, as we
must know so as to prepare pens and stalls in
time. It also enables us to advertise the articles
properly. If you have anything to sell will find
you a buyer. Cards for listing at either bank.
