Ricbmond, Va., Aug. 9—The prose-
Icutlon in the case of Henry Clay,
Beattle, Jr., the young Virginian ac-
i-uied of the murder of Ms wife, was
| busily engaged Wednesday in com- j
Dieting the details of a dramatic
presentation which will be made to,
•he court ne t week, when the trial
•starts.
It will be the story of two loves— j
i how Beattle was torn between vlr-
ituous affection for his wife and pas-
sion for his 17 year old sweetheart.
Beulab Blnford, who Is held as "
material witness.
The jury will listen to a romantic
story of how these women struggled
to gain mastery over young Beattle: i
a story of sordid amours between |
Beattle and the Blnford girl and the
real love which Mrs. Beattle exert-
ed in an attempt to win her hus-
band from "the other woman."
1 The first hitch In the trial will
come In the selection of a Jury. The
prosecution will attempt to have
only married men in the Jury box,
while counsel for the defense will
strive to find among the twelve men
those who might conscientiously
sympathize with the accused.

000D TO ZUKER
R. L. Zuker has returned from
a trip to Alabama. Mr. Zuker left
Shawnee with the intention of mov-
ing away from here and taking up
his residence in some of the older

pression that times were duller here
than anywhere e!se, and that the
town was "dtad "
His Impression did not last long,
he says, for when he got ont of
the state. In other towna Shawnee
on Sunday Is. livelier than Saturday
or pay-day in the towna In Ala-
bama. "Shawnee certainly looks
good to me'/' said Mr. Zuker, "I
had been In the town so long that
I bad become accustomed to the ac-
tivity in trade, and though' It dull.
When I got Into the other towns,
1 began to think different.'

PUT OFF TRAIN:
APPEALS TO COORT
A damage suit growing out of the
fact that Neary L. Newbern was
put off a Rock Island train between
Alderson and Hartshorne at mid-
night of December 13, 1906, on a
cold and stormy night, and had to
walk six miles to Hartshorne to get
shelter, was appealed to the su-
preme court Wednesday by the rail-
road company.
Newbern alleged that he bought a
ticket from Poteau to McAlester and
return and made it all right on the
going trip,' but that when he got
on the train at McAlester to return,
the auditor refused to honor his
ticket and put him off the train
He brought suit In LeFlore county
for 2,000 damages, and got Judg-
ment for that amount.
